  1. I have also decided to attend University of Florida in the fall! I am leaning towards housing at Centerpoint, it seems affordable, but I'm not entirely sure of the area. Any pointers are much appreciated!

    Gainesville, FL

I will be attending University of Florida in the fall!!! A few weeks ago I put in an application with EFN properties and was approved for a 1BR at Center Point. Anyone from Gainesville have any insight on what the apartments there are like? They told me they go through pretty extensive background checks before they let anyone live there, which seems like it might be more low key? I hate the idea of agreeing to the lease before seeing anything, but I might not have a chance to visit before August.
  3. It has probably been addressed before, but I figured I'd ask for advice on meeting with Graduate Directors? I was accepted and invited to visit the campus, the professor I've been speaking to set up a meeting for me with the department grad director. Is that the sort of thing where we might discuss funding opportunities, or is it just to help get a sense of direction? Also--- anyone have any pointers on what sort of questions I can ask of them to help to flesh out our possible future relationship (the department & I)?
  4. First week in February I was accepted by UGA and University of Florida via phone! I was also contacted by University of Nebraska and accepted via email! How early is too early to ask for the sweet deets on funding?

    2013 MFA Results?

Speaking of email correspondance, I received an 'informal acceptance' email today from one of my schools---- is that something that I should respond to? And if so, what would be the best way to go about that?
  6. Long story short for the Univ of Iowa--- my biggest factor for grad school applications was the fee for applications, and the possibility of being offered an assistantship. I figured I'd apply to a handful of well-known/high ranking schools, a few mid-sized state schools, and a few schools that had openly approached my concentration professor about open teaching assistantships in the printmaking department. That way I'd have a good chance at getting some good funding, and my biggest draw for any school is: a printing press, and, a great offer of funding/assistantships/scholarships/etc. I think Univ of Iowa was on my list early on, but got bumped for a few other schools. Thank you all for the feedback on my work!!! I could go into a big thing about my interest in religious art and the way it is perceived across differing cultures, throughout the passing of time, etc etc but in summary; I am interested in playing with a satirical view of religion that makes the viewer question whether anything is truly worthy of worship and veneration. And other things, but, that's a big part of it.
  7. Just finished up with my last batch of grad apps aaaand now I will begin agonizing over my work and wondering if I presented myself well enough, etc etc I'd love feedback! Your reaction to the work, the ~feeling~ of my work, what strikes you, etc etc, whatever you want http://flavors.me/adreenac http://adreenacook.daportfolio.com/
  8. First three deadlines passed, and I only nearly missed one of them! The rest of my applications should be less stressful, now that I have all of my information gathered together and everything. For my letter of intent, I have been having a bit of difficulty "tailoring" my statement for each school. How are each of you handling that? I can't figure out how to list the aspects of the program that I am excited about. I come from a very small printmaking department, so I'm mostly just excited to continue my work and to be able to utilize a larger printmaking facility. I assume that I would be a more appealing candidate if instead of just listing, 'facilities', I had a slightly longer list of more specific aspects of the program...
  9. I am applying to the printmaking programs at University of Kansas Illinois State Northern Illinois University Kendall College of Art and Design University of Georgia Ohio University University of Penn University of Nebraska Anybody know University of Penn's acceptance rate to the art program?
