  1. i don't think so. I think it's more like supply and demand. Do you realize how many applications these schools are getting? They could probably jack up the prices and they would find people would would be willing to go into debt for it. And there are LOTS of schools with funding, just do a little research.
  2. Cool. I like the Morphoid things. They are pretty awesome. They remind me of Pokemon characters. I like the idea behind it all.... the psychology of it. : )
  3. Ok. that's cool if that is how they want to roll. It just seems like to me that "experimentation" should have progressed somewhat more once someone is at the stage of obtaining a "MASTER of fine arts" degree? Yeah, the video didn't do anyone any justice, and I'm sure I would have liked a lot more in person.... but still.
  4. well, I just found out that my stats. on Hunter must have been wrong because on their own website it says they get about 800 applications and accept about 80 students. 10% is WAY better than the 3% that was on those other stats, so that's kinda good...i guess. (still 90% rejected though.)
  5. Hey everyone. I'm feeling really worried about my grades now because I keep looking on the "results search" and it seems like everyone has like 3.8, 3.9 or 4.0! I only have a 3.4 and I USED to think that was ok (and it is cum laude at my school) but now I feel like it's horrible and I'm wondering if i will be rejected right away just because of my GPA? If u are already getting acceptances/interviews, please tell me your GPA so i can feel better or worse. or anyone else want to tell theirs?
  6. Is that video really Yale MFA? Most of the paintings were so very very horrible! I thought it was a joke. Everyone that was rejected from Yale--- be very glad! I did love the paintings at 7:30 though.
  7. hey everyone who applied to CMU: I saw on their website calendar that there is a "MFA admission committee meeting" March 1. There is nothing else on the calendar about admissions before this. Does that mean we definitely wont hear anything until after then?
  8. why is painting the last of all possible subjects that schools review? Or so it seems... Math, english, history, science, psychology, and just about everyone else has heard from schools. Even for visual arts it seems like painting is last! ergh!

    GPA woes

Sorry, I can't really help you out, but I'm at WVU right now, so jus wanted to say "hi". Also, my father received PhD in History at WVU so yippie! i'm not in history, but in general, i would think that the MA GPA would be far more important. Besides, a 3.31 undergrad is certainly not horrible. It might not be amazing, but it's not like a 2. something that would make them wonder about you. I would think they look at the recent events much more than the past. (haha just realized the irony of that statement...for history).
  10. hey peeps. I was bored today, and remembered "Drunk History". If you all haven't seen it, you MUST watch it! My dad (a history prof) showed it to me. It's so freaking funny. Well, them again if you already have... it's a good distraction. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipV2u-MxlFc there are other episodes, but this one is my fav.
  11. wow. I did the Peterson's search and it was even worse (for my schools) than what I posted above. The rates for my schools were 1.5%, 3% and my "safety" school (or so I thought) is 12% !!! Wow. I have a feeling I'll be back on here next year.
  12. I am re-posting this from another thread, i think it was from last year. If anyone wants to come over to my house to cry with me, bring some baileys and a box of tissues please. 13. Hey everyone. I'm tired of reading over the same stuff and I need a distraction. Anyone want to tell me their fav. contemporary artist(preferably not that well known), or give a link to artists they like? I love looking at art, especially new stuff. Some artists I love: Adehla Lee: http://adehlalee.com/ Erika Osborne: http://www.erikaosborne.com/ Lee Piechocki: http://www.leepiechocki.com/ Esther Peal Watson: http://cargocollective.com/ewatson
  14. what? but i read into everything! it's too boring not to.
  15. Hey Hunter people, Is it just me, or did the website (for the application) just completely change today? I check that thing like everyday hoping they will update my transcripts, and today it looked completely different. Does this mean they are doing something with our applications now that made them want to change things? hum....
  16. yeah, true, but I researched my schools, and all the people on here in the past years heard from them by end of Feb, so I'm going to assume if i don't hear anything by april, then I'm rejected from all of them.
  17. I don't think "taboo" would be the right word. It would be taboo to offer him money to let you in the program or something like that. lol They wouldn't think anything bad about you. I'm sure there is someone doing it every day. It could annoy them people are constantly calling day and night, but I doubt it. I would come up with an excuse though... like a lot of your mail gets lost (?) so you just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it. (haha) Actually, there are two times where I actually got ahead by calling/annoying people... one was for an art competition... I sent the judge an email asking if she had decided the winner yet and she sent me a nice email saying she was sorry it was taking so long... she had been really busy and out of town.... then a few hours later I got another email saying that I was the winner. Well, I can't prove it but I think my email helped. Another time was for a job. I called and asked about it, and the lady said she was literally just about to go through the applications when I called, then she called me back a few hours later with a job offer. (I don't know if she thought that was a "sign" or something??) Well, I know (hopefully) that Grad admissions don't operate like that, but at the same time, it could send subliminal messages that you REALLY want to go to their school, or that you are really ambitious, etc. so who knows? Just no matter what, whether it is email or phone, be super polite about it.
  18. one more funny thing my husband said: "You will definitely get into ----------. The schools in New York take anybody." Wow. Thanks. If only.....
  19. haha! this thread is so funny. Here is a conversation with me and my husband: Husb: So when are you going to find out if you are accepted to these schools? Me: I don't know, maybe a month or longer. Husb: Can't you just call the school and tell them that you really need to know right now? HAHAHA! If only.....
  20. NOOOO!!!! This is what i'm scared of! I've been having problems with schools getting my paperwork bc i've had 3 last names since my first college 10 years ago. I'm seriously thinking that one school just got sick of me emailing and calling them about it. Finally they were like, "If you get invited to an interview, you can just bring your transcripts then"; I think i read way too much into it. Here is how I read it: "We don't give a **** about your transcripts. Leave us alone because we already threw every thing else in the trash". Yeah, I'm not freaking out or anything am I?
  21. I applied to two schools mostly because of this list... yeah thanks to whoever made it.
  22. wait, I thought FAFSA was due March 1??? Dangit, I guess I have less time to procrastinate then.
  23. Nice. My Dad used to be a Prof. at Fairmont, now he is at another school. No, I've not taken any photography classes, but Sherwin is still there. Yes, the CAC is still confusing (not really crazy though) even though I'm a senior, I still get lost at least once a week lol. This semester I have THREE art history classes, which is a lot for me. I don't know how you do it. What year did you graduate WVU?
