  1. Geez, a thirty-person list for five spots? What's the point of such a huge list???
  2. I'm way excited as well. What are your thoughts on A&M?
  3. Hey guys-- any other A&M people going to the visit days?
  4. Florida, Ole Miss, and Alabama: Come on! Tell us something, ANYTHING! March is flying by... soon it will be April.
  5. That makes no sense. I was told they are still making decisions... And I emailed to-day. What's w
  6. I have a question (not trying to jack the thread-- since we're discussing MAs and funding): Many people have mentioned that schools are either impressed by funded MAs or deterred by unfunded MAs, but how do programs actually find out about your funding package from your MA (assuming you're applying to a different school than your MA)? Is this something you note in SOP or CVs? Just curious.
  7. Oh, damn. Well, maybe we'll hear regardless. Or maybe the info about responses going out was... wrong. Who knows. Lame.
  8. Where are these Florida responses??? (I have no patience, haha.)
  9. Yeah, sort of. I'm going to visit Texas A&M, where I'm waitlisted for PhD but in for MA. It's just kind of a weird situation. :/
  10. Um yes. Maryland's MA offer email to me was literally two sentences. "We are happy to admit you to our MA if you're interested." Oh, if I'm interested? It's just bizarre. Looks like it was written on the way to lunch. Anyway, their MA does NOT feed into their PhD, so why would any PhD hopefuls WANT to attend? It's not even a consolation prize at that point.
  11. WAAAAA! Got an email from Dr. Youngquist... waitlisted!
  12. I emailed... gahhhh. I hope we all get positive responsesssssssss.
  13. I have a bittersweet acceptance-- I was denied PhD at Maryland, but accepted to MA. Unfortunately, the inside scoop is that UMD doesn't take any MA students into their PhD program... and it's totally unfunded. So, hooray for acceptance, boo for the circumstances.
  14. I'm debating as to whether or not I want to just bite the bullet and email Dr. Youngquist again. I don't want to be a bother... I mean, I only sent one email two weeks ago. Sigh.
  15. If Boulder doesn't send any word out to-day... it will be a very, very sad day.
  16. Yeah, what's the deal with non-thesis MAs? Not sure I understand the merit in them, especially in Lit. I get the feeling that generally, an MA in Lit is a stepping stone on the way to a PhD, so why wouldn't you do a thesis?
  17. So, perhaps we'll see some MA acceptances on the board tomorrow! Here's to hoping...
