Exactly, though it would help to have the first one be an acceptance... I spent a TON of time really focusing in on the programs that are the best fit for my interests, so if I get into just one it will be a win. If I start off with a rejection don't think it will bode well for my chances elsewhere.

I'll just have to resign myself to the inevitability of a month full of mini panic attacks.

Is it just me, or do the vast majority of American Studies programs not notify until mid-February? Still no word from Minnesota, so I'm starting to worry about that one.

Seriously... I got a lecture from my boyfriend this morning because everytime he walks by my computer I have some form of status update site open. It is definitely distracting me from finishing up this last SOP... :-/

Congratulations ahaidaris! Definitely keep in touch and continue to show interest; maybe give them an update on anything new you've been up to since you applied? If you don't mind my asking, when/how were you notified? I also applied to UMinn and have been obsessively checking my application status for updates. I still have to submit my BGSU app, but I'll be doing that regardless of what/if I hear before the deadline. I'm also considering the "special student" program at Northeastern's English Department, but there is no funding for first years.

Congrats to you both! Bluecheese, that is *super* exciting. I really, really wanted to apply to Comp Studies at OSU, but the program ended up not being the strongest match for my interests. You can rest easy the rest of the season knowing that you have at least one really awesome option!

Hi all, Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm also *dying* to hear. I've applied to the following programs: Minnesota, American Studies Michigan, American Studies U of Pittsburgh, English (Critical and Cultural Studies) CU Boulder, English Chicago, English Vanderbilt, English Brown, American Studies Iowa, American Studies UMass Amherst, Communication U of Florida, English I'm also applying to Bowling Green's American Studies program, but won't be sending in that app until next week. Phigirl: it's so nice to hear that I'm not the only one freaking out over Minnesota and their timeline for acceptances last year! Good luck all!
