  1. Thank you! And I see that you were accepted to UCLA. That is awesome! Congrats, Congrats! You are bringing such good vibes to our forum. Welcome!
  2. Congrats on your acceptances and your interview. Keep us posted!!!!!!
  3. Congrats. That is awesome!!!! Here's to you! We'd love some details.
  4. I have never thought of myself as a cheerleader before . But gosh this process is hard. The only thing that was similar was when my husband I were putting in bids for a house and waiting to hear back. It was so stressful. I remember when I just knew one house was going to be ours. We put in a competitive bid and waited and waited, and our agent let us know that we didn't get the house. I was devastated. But I'll never forget that my agent sent me an email and said, it may takes some time, but we are going to find you the perfect house for you, and we're not going to stop until we do. You got it? I wiped my tears, which were many, and said, yes, I get it. And we did get our house (that is an interesting story in itself). I love our house. We are still working on it, but to me it is soooooo beautiful! So, to all on this forum...we are going to get into the program this is perfect for us. It may take some time, but it will happen. Get it?
  5. I feel you! I have been happy that no one from my program has reported yet. But don't stay in the dark. I called Admissions. Just because they started reporting does not mean they are finished! There is still hope! How many programs did you apply to?
  6. Overthinking things is a side effect of this process I've found. The POI would know if you are a good fit and if the Adcom might look favorably upon your application. Now of course that does not me you are automatically in, but it officially qualifies as a good sign. Welcome! This particular forum is the place that exists in the purgatory that lies between application and acceptance. It is not an easy process, but it helps when you have people pulling for you!
  7. Congrats at having the interview lelia. This program obviously thinks that you are a worthy candidate. I'm of two minds. On the one hand I think why not just do one more interview and have that as a back up plan? Take that with a grain of salt as I would be happy to have an interview about now. My second thought, not tinged with my own desperations is, if you really believe that this is not the program for you and you don't want to got to this school, then don't waste your time and theirs with a second interview. However, be sure. I have read other posts were people regret not taking advantage of opportunities. Be as introspective as you can, and then if you are still sure this is not the program for you, then I think very respectfully, you should tell them that. I know that you wouldn't want to take a spot, and possibly funding from someone else, to ultimately turn it down at the last minute, when you knew all along that you didn't want to attend. That's my two cents. Keep us posted. Your journey sounds as though it is going to be very interesting.
  8. My people, my people! It is so good to hear from Rhet/Comp hopefuls. We seem to be the minority. I majored in English for my B.A. and have an MFA in Creative Writing. I've been teaching freshman composition for six years and loving it! Don't judge please, but I have applied to one program: The Graduate Center (NY). Super excited about the program. But alas, as I have said on other forums, I have no back up plans. It is acceptance or bust!
  9. I agree with mimi03. There is nothing wrong with asking about the status of your application. Keep us posted!
  10. Sorry, it took so long to answer...I think this question was to me! Anyhoo (and please don't judge) I have applied to one program. It is a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, which would be perfect for me since I have been teaching in general for 13 years and teaching composition for 6.
  11. Oh, do we like to hear about interviews! A round of applause everyone. An interview is an accomplishment! Keep us posted!
  12. Can someone say: GOOD SIGN? Keep us posted on this. This sounds promising!
  13. Having an interview in itself is good. The positive feedback about applying for scholarships is great. Here's to you!
  14. And we love you! This is really great. Don't be afraid to get excited about something like this. If I were you, I would do the official HAPPY DANCE!
  15. This is past good, or even great, this is AMAZING. One thing we have learned is that programs do not waste a lot of time with prospective students they are not interested in. It sounds like an acceptance and a fellowship are on the way for you. And congrats on that. It is truly awesome!
  16. Dreams can be very powerful Omens. Keep us posted. Woo Hoo!
  17. We all have our regrets. I have the opposite issue, 3.95 undergrad, 4.0 Grad, but the GRE was horrible! The verbal not bad, not as good as you, but not bad, but the Quant....It gives me shivers to think about it! But we have accomplished things in our own right that will make us shine and there is a spot in the program that is right for us that no one else can have!
  18. You are so right. This is such a stressful process. But we are pulling for each other! We believe in each other and I am so excited about the dozens of posts and congratulation posts that are getting ready to happen. CAN YOU FEEL IT PEOPLE??????
  19. Now this is exciting! I have never done a Skype interview! Let us know what happens.!
  20. Go Purple! Go Purple! Wonderful sign indeed...and they are paying for it! What I wouldn't do for....Sorry, concentrating on you. Yeah! I am excited!
  21. You are not bringing down the room. We are here for you - and you do have a lot you are waiting on. I know you will have some good news to share soon. Believe and don't doubt!
  22. Wow! That is awesome. You must be very accomplished to be in that position!
  23. So Instead of crumbling under all of this pressure, I am going to try to concentrate on all the other awesome things that are going on in my life. Let's not lose sight that there are other things!
