I have put so much into this, my mother finally said, "I have never seen you like this!" She's right. I talk about it everyday. I dream about it and I think about it constantly. I need to do less stressing and more trusting...I definitely needed the encouragement - thanks!

Welcome Beth23! Referred early you say? Sounds like someone's application generated interest early in the process. I think it's a good sign, not necessarily an Omen. Omens are mystical like dreams, songs that give us premonitions, etc. Don't leave us hanging with this one. We want to know how it goes for you! Lord have mercy on my soul, did I have a dream last night! It was awesome. I was accepted with a fellowship. I can't describe to you the joy I felt. I haven't had a dream like this since this whole process started. My family was there, and they were so excited and proud and I was relieved that I hadn't let everyone down. I was crying with joy! And then...I awakened. I literally cried out, "No! No!" I'm surprised I didn't wake up my husband. I was so disappointed, because it was soooooooo real. When I told my mother, she said, "Surely that is an omen!" Bless her kind heart. I have not the strength to declare it an omen. Maybe someone else can declare it thus (sorry, I was reading the Bible, so I"m going King James on you) All I know is....for a few moments I felt the joy of what it is to be accepted by your dream program. It happened before, with my M.F.A in creative writing. I will never forget that day when I received the call from Prof. X that told me they wanted me. I was so excited. But alas, that was thirteen years ago. Now I'm in a different place and I understand what this program would mean for my life. And I need very badly, very literally, for dreams to come true....

I am so sorry to hear about that rejection. I know that it hurt. But I am so glad that you have more options out there (unlike me who only applied to one program). There is a program that will recognize your value and what you can bring to the table. In terms of Linkendin, what you experienced is definitely not a hallucination. I care too much to just throw out words like Good sign, if I'm not sure. it is certainly not bad when someone checks your profile. What I will say though is that you should be patient and see how this thing pans out, and keep us posted! Your success is important to us!

It's funny that you say that, because I have been to a support group that is kind of like a 12 step program and being with people who are going through what you are going through is sooooooo comforting! No, you are not the only one who is anxious. We all are! There is no way around it - this is just plain hard. But one by one people who have found this thread are starting to report their acceptances. It will happen, we just have to survive the process. And I am so glad I get to survive this process with my grad family! Welcome!

Welcome! No, I don't think you are reading too much into it. Sometimes emails can be so cold. To get an email like that is encouraging! No matter what happens, it sounds like you should keep the lines of communication open with this POI. Keep us posted on how things go for you!

This is the time to be unscientific! Every color, song that comes on, dream, and off hand comment made by someone feels like an Omen about the programs we'll get into. There's nothing wrong with that. This is a stressful, rather tortuous process. We need those things to help us along the way. Unfortunately, I haven't had any good signs, or omens lately. At this point, I would settle for a good old fashioned hallucination about my program!

I would be cautiously optimistic if I were you. Getting something from financial aid, after already receiving an email confirming that your app was received, sounds like a good sign. 42ed, I agree with what has been said. I think February is a hard month for us all, but if you feel like you had a great interview, then you had a great interview, don't doubt it. Having an interview is an accomplishment in and of itself. We are rooting for you. Let us know when you get good news, wherever it comes from. And congrats, congrats, congrats to mochi! I do the same thing! I actually feel bad for those that didn't get in and I feel elated for those that did. I can imagine posting there myself soon with good news. I am always so proud of the people who don't get it but who congratulate those that did! That takes a lot. I have to admit though, I can't imagine waiting this long only to post bad news. That I don't think I can do.

I was so disturbed to see on the other portion of this forum, people talking about hating their programs and wanting to quit. These are the same people that were once on topics like these, saying they would do anything to get accepted. It's not just about getting in. We have to ask ourselves are we mentally, physically, and spiritually ready for what is about to happen? And if we are not- we need to get ready! When we graduate to the "other side" of these forums, yes we will talk about frustrations, but that's different than wanting to quit as soon as we get in! Let's spend time not just longing for acceptances, but preparing every aspect of our lives so that we will be ready when they come!
