  1. I am bumping this thread, since i am 95% sure I will be attending USF in the Fall! Can anyone offer any information on USF as a whole, the surrounding areas, things to do, and things to be cautious of? Anything aside from parking . I am very used to parking being an issue (especially at my undergrad institution), so the thought doesn't drive me away.
  2. I hear things like that about almost every program- it's inevitable! Rumors are started for whatever reason (an upset grad student, someone who wasn't accepted, etc). Talk it over with your advisor and see if they know anything CONCRETE. I am from NY, and I really haven't heard anything about the program not being great. Enjoy your success and don't worry until you know something factual.
  3. You should go celebrate your success! As I've said before, this is the kind of situation that deserves confetti/balloons/streamers. Enjoy your night and this wonderful feeling! You deserve it and more! Thanks everyone for your input regarding CIs. I was unsure if the extra certificate would make a huge difference in employment opportunities after graduation. I feel like my decision is quite clear now.
  4. Do you guys think not having a certificate in CI education will restrict me from possibly working with that population in the future?
  5. I don't think this would affect your admissions decision. They assume that you would start classes with the cohort in the Fall after taking some Summer pre-reqs.
  6. CONGRATS!!!! I have been reading your posts on the forum for a while, and I am so happy for you!!
  7. Congrats! You are almost at the end of your journey, I can feel it. Especially since you already have great feelings about FSU.
  8. That is so great to hear. I'm getting so excited (not like I wasn't already ). Do you have any advice about USF or Tampa in general?
  9. True. USC doesn't have an undergrad program (only a minor), so it seems that their M.S. program is designed to give them the info that they missed during undergrad. However, there are a LOT of classes that I would be expected to take at the graduate level, and the tuition seems quite steep for taking classes again! I wasn't sure if this was normal protocol.
  10. Does anyone know what happens if we have already fulfilled the undergrad equivalent of a grad course at a university? For example, USC has a lot of courses under their course of study that I have already taken (ex: speech science). I would not want to have to take all of these courses AGAIN at the graduate level. Is that what they're expecting?
  11. I am getting such great vibes about USF!
  12. Do you feel that most students are happy within the program?
  13. Since you're a current student, what are your impressions of the program? I always like to hear from people who have experienced it before!
  14. I can't survive without lists! Especially for a decision so huge. I am really happy with my acceptance to USF, and it had been at the top of my mental list throughout the entire process. Now all I need to do is take the plunge and submit my form! I'm hoping we all have a wonderful few years ahead of us
  15. It would make a huge difference to me. However, I know that they won't have that information for me before Friday. I made a large pros and cons list with my boyfriend and my mother, and it seemed like USF was really tipping the scales. It is a great overall program (though they both are), and the cost makes me much more comfortable.
  16. Did anyone on here have to accept an offer via e-mail? If so, did you receive a response?
  17. The more I think about it, the more I think USF is the right choice for me. I'll sleep on it, but my heart is pretty much set on it
  18. Thanks!! It means a lot
  19. Thanks! I know we would be going Fall, Spring and Summer for 2 years. If you want more info, definitely ask them! That's what open house is all about. Congrats and enjoy your visit! I wish I could be there.
  20. I won't be there because it was too short of notice for me. I'm thinking of going to USF in the Fall though!
  21. I would graduate with an emphasis/expertise in cochlear implants. The CI track was essentially the selling point on USC for me. However, I'm not sure that I technically need extra the emphasis in grad school in order to work with CI patients in the future.
  22. USC comes to about 79,000 (without semester fees) while USF comes to about 50,000.
  23. I was accepted from my waitlist via phone this morning. I am very excited, but very torn. They also only gave me until FRIDAY to make a decision. Rough.
  24. Oh yes, USC is calling for about $13,000 a semester (6 semesters total). I was just unsure if it made a difference at the end of my education. Will I be at an advantage? And thank you!
