Waitlisted - waiting for your school AND everyone else's
SLPjmar replied to RubyBright's topic in Waiting it Out
I now sit on 3 waitlists, with 2 rejections and no other prospects. I feel so terrible... I wonder what was not good enough about me. I also feel like there is no hope of getting off of any waitlist, and I will have to reapply. God, this totally sucks. I am disappointed and angry with myself. -
From their original letter, I assumed that only those accepted during the second round will get a letter. Since their initial deadline was today, I believe that they will be making decisions this week and next. They did mention that they were in the process of compiling and ranking the waitlist way back in early March, so I am assuming that they are just going to move right down the list and notify until all spots are filled. Powellg, congrats on your acceptance this year! I admire your perseverance, and this acceptance is something you clearly worked for. Enjoy your successes!

Also, I feel like USF should have told us that we are all just waiting? I mean, I've been sitting here in the dark for a few weeks now. When I had heard of programs doing this, I was always curious as to why they don't just inform people that they are on a waitlist.
-
Yeah. Me too. So this now means that I sit on 3 waitlists and 2 rejections. My options are only to be accepted off of a waitlist somehow. Wow, this is not how I saw things happening for me.
-
So does that mean they didn't even review all the applications before sending acceptances? Because that really upsets me. I exceeded their minimums as they reported them online. So how can they have made decisions all while not reviewing all applications?
-
When you emailed, did she indicate that everyone was wait listed? Or that they are still reviewing?
-
I'll be thinking of you all week! Please let me know if you receive anything happy. If for some reason you don't, we will get through this together next year.
-
Thanks guys. Here's hoping that this week brings some good news! I know I (and I'm sure others) need it.
-
Very true, and thank you! I am just so not emotionally prepared to endure this again if need be.
-
I feel so totally tired and worn down at this point in the process. I've been keeping my hopes up that I will hear good news, but it is quite difficult.
-
It's very unfortunate that applicants feel the need to trash programs and schools at any point (accepted, waitlisted, rejected). I have made it my mission throughout this entire process to not say ANYTHING negative about any program. It's unnecessary, unprofessional, and none of it would be factual.
-
Could possibly be someone who was waitlisted, and now is trashing the program in the hopes that someone else will see it and decline, thereby opening up a space. Just a theory!
-
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but I feel so terrible when an applicant is counted out just by numbers alone. I have great confidence that you will make a wonderful SLP someday, whether your numbers make the cut or not. Good luck, I have faith in you!
-
Exactly. Perhaps she meant to say that acceptances were currently ONLY going to those who met the minimums, meaning no one below was receiving an acceptance.
-
I hope so! That's just very weird to reply to an email with. One would assume that of course all acceptances would go to those who meet the minimums.
-
That's very weird, since I met both the GPA and GRE minimums that they listed.
-
Sorry, I'm on my phone and can't see your signature. Did you apply to USF also? If not, have you been accepted anywhere? I certainly hope so

CONGRATS!!!!!! That is too awesome. -
I wish it was me. I had stats much higher, so it seems they are making decisions based on a lot of things. Thanks, I hope so too .
-
I'm not so much anxious as I am annoyed at this point. I see people being accepted to USF almost randomly (wide range of stats, wide range of dates, etc.) while I sit here with absolutely no idea where I stand. I have emailed and have not received a reply. I'm starting to feel like I'm being kept in the dark.
-
Did you apply to USF? Also, do you know where they are in admissions? I understand that they use this type of rolling admissions process, but I just can't figure out where they are in it! I know first round has gone out, but has the next?
-
I was told by a few professors and my advisor that it did not.
-
I'm really hoping I know something before graduation time.
-
I loved UVA and their program when I visited. Good luck deciding!

Thanks you guys!!!
