If you've already established a rapport, I think it's a great way to express interest in a program (and maybe ease your stress level). If not, I wouldn't think it would hurt, but it is a bit weird.
I don't know. Maybe they meant to say "POI Email" instead of "website". Really, though, I think the important principle is that the only thing the results page can really tell you is when rejection (and possibly result) waves (4+ events) are coming out.

I'm not really interested in defending humanism's right to exist in the manner it does on an internet forum. Humanists can and do go to HDS for ministry degrees, and they can and do engage in ministry work after graduation. Clearly, those who have done so and those who seek them out for council and support find it beneficial.
No, although some programs (UChicago, BC) do forward apps on to MA admissions. I applied for my MA separately.
In all cases, you would be expected to apply again for the PhD.
