dont feel bad! i'm looking at straight across the board rejections myself. i'll be 0/10 within a month i'm sure. right now i only have 4 confirmed rejections, but everything else is looking pretty grim at this point.

we don't know you, your program's procedures, or that professor. no one here can give you any real advice on predicting your outcome in this particular situation. you will simply have to wait. good luck!

i'm in math/applied math. i currently only work part time in math education (while living with the parents), but in the event of all rejections i was planning on getting a full time job immediately afterwards. now i'm thinking i may take a few independent study courses over the summer and then get a job after that. i know that i cant continue to work only part time for a whole nother year, but i also know i simply can't just reapply next year without adding something to my applications. so spending the summer on improving my apps through independent study, and then basically taking whatever the hell job i can possibly get in this economy until the following school year begins will probably be my plan.

this is my second time applying. i didnt do much in the way of improving my apps the second time around aside from trying to improve my SOP. instead i just applied to many more schools, and a broader range of schools. if i dont get in this time, then i'll possibly go back this summer and take a couple of independent study courses. hopefully that will secure some stronger LORs for me. i'll also try and see if i can get some research experience, but i've been told by professors its difficult to do without currently being enrolled anywhere.

Anybody else with no acceptances OR rejections?

dont be afraid to take some initiative. email your schools ONCE and inquire about your status. a lot of us on this forum have done exactly that. some schools will respond. some might not. some may tell you vague details, other schools might email back an acceptance or rejection right away. i emailed and was told of 3 rejections, a bunch of unofficial waitlists/pending, and only one school didnt respond. -

UPDATE: i emailed him over the weekend. he apologized and said he would do it. I called the school today. They STILL haven't received his letter. do i bother him again? I dont wanna piss off the professor in case i need him to write me more letters next year. do i just let it go?

next year apply to more than 1 school. also, apply to a range of schools. include a few safety schools, a few middle schools, and a few reach schools. typical response from the unprepared applicant: "But thats the one school i really want to go to! It's a perfect fit for me!" tough shit. and if they reject you, then obviously they know you're not the perfect fit for them. things dont always work out the way we want them to. that's how life works. you need to give yourself more OPTIONS next time. you need to make yourself open to the possibility of NOT getting in to your dream school, but perhaps being able to get into some other decent school.

i finally got a response from my email inquiry to arizona: The first round of offers has been made, and so your application is currently pending. We're waiting to see how many of those offers are accepted before making further offers. again, it seems like with most of the programs i've applied to that rejections arent sent out in any timely manner. basically everybody not initially accepted is waitlisted until all available spots have been filled. then the wave of rejections are sent out all at once. can't wait til the 'wave' hits me on april 15th.

holy shit

no one knows the answer except the adcom. you'll just have to wait it out. sorry.

yeah, staying in school just for health insurance has gotta be the most expensive idea for getting health insurance i've ever heard of. some companies offer temporary insurance policies with basically just 'emergency coverage' for up to 6 months. i did that myself. i think i got a 6 month plan for a total of $300. but then after the 6 months, you have to wait another 2-3 months before you can renew it again. its really only supposed to be temporary.
-
i think it is more accurate to say: longer wait = not in the first round of acceptances = significantly higher chance of rejection
-
if it makes you feel better, i will most likely be 0 for 11. only 3 official rejections so far, but certainly a few more to come from schools that have already had interview weekends in which i wasnt invited, etc.

Am I waitlisted? How to figure out what's going on...

someone's been studying for the GRE verbal. -
over a month ago i asked one of my LOR writers to write me one final LOR. i shot him an email asking. he said no problem. a week later i asked him if it was still alright. he said he'd do it soon. 4 weeks go by. last week i call this last school i'm applying to. they still dont have his LOR. i emailed him again about 4 days ago asking if he could get around to it sometime very soon. no response. what next? email him again? (maybe he was at a conference?) do i risk bothering him? (maybe i could write him just one final email maybe on tuesday saying it would be ok if he couldnt do it but that i wanted to email him one final time to make sure, in case he didnt receive my last email?) or should i just go on to someone else. i do have a 4th person who could write me a letter who wrote one for one school for me this year, but it would be much weaker LOR. this school wont be reviewing apps til the end of the month, or beginning of april. UPDATE: i emailed him over the weekend. he apologized and said he would do it. I called the school today. They STILL haven't received his letter. do i bother him again? I dont wanna piss off the professor in case i need him to write me more letters next year. do i just let it go?

who knows. but it can't hurt, right? no one is going to get upset with you for showing enthusiasm for their program.
