  5. I think the only reason that you should consider a more expensive school is if you want a PhD and reputation matters, but honestly the most important aspect is if you feel comfortable with the expenses and know that you can handle the tuition. I don't know what you want to do with your degree, some people want to continue to get a PhD and others just want to get a job after the masters. If you don't plan on getting a PhD then I think you should go with the cheaper school. As long as the program is ASHA approved and has an employment rate at or close to 100% after graduation then you will be fine. Even if you want to continue to a PhD I would still chose a cheaper school because the stress of finances is not worth it. I had to apply to a lot of out of state schools because of my circumstance and I won't lie, the number one priority for me was how much the tuition cost and the funding that was given to students. I think people should take the cheaper option with schools whenever possible,
  6. Congrats on your many acceptances Erock!
  7. Well, it looks like it's another day of no results. I keep checking the results page to see if anyone has heard from Radford since they are supposed to be making their decisions any day now and I am hoping to get their decision in the mail by Saturday. Everywhere else is either March 15th or who knows when. Next week is my spring break so I am hoping I can get at least one acceptance before then so I don't have to be obsessively checking my email and mail box through my entire spring break. It would also be nice to have a week off to drive and visit any of the towns/schools I am accepted in. Looks like that's not going to happen though. Every day that passes is one day closer to getting some results, at least that is what I am trying to tell myself.

  11. While I still have not been fully rejected (I have been wait listed at two schools) and still have 5 out of 7 schools to hear from I am already preparing my plan B. I am an out of field candidate for speech pathology and I plan on getting into a post-bac program to take all the courses I need in order to apply to more schools next year and be a stronger candidate. I am limited to only schools that offer a "leveler" sequence this time and I have no idea how many people in my position a schools offers admission for. But I just REALLY hope that I get in somewhere because trying to figure out which schools need which pre-req courses done is a royal pain in the butt! I also may try to brush up on ASL and maybe re-take the GRE, but getting in a post-bac program is my top priority when it comes to my plan B.
  12. Thank you!!! Hopefully you are right.
  13. Congrats to everyone who received acceptances today! I, like a few others, am stuck in limbo and waiting for another few weeks to get results. I am hoping that the great news we have been hearing will rub off on others that are still waiting.

  15. You are more than welcome to join in! Your daughter's story should bring hope to many of us currently waiting it out and/or waiting on the results of wait listed schools to get back with us. Stay calm everybody, we just have a few more weeks left!

  17. I already applied to Utah State today as a post-bac second degree student. I thought about doing the non-degree option but after looking at the classes it seemed easier to just go ahead and do the full degree program. It is only 3 semesters long and the cost is very affordable so it seems like a good option, plus others on here seem to be happy with their decision. Thanks!
  18. That is great to know, thank you very much!

  20. Thanks, I actually looked at that program last night. The problem is though that I and my boyfriend live in Illinois and Portland is just too far away for us. There is a second degree program at SIU-Edwardsville that is similar and much closer and convenient for us that I will probably apply to in a few weeks. I also just sent my application in for Utah State's program. Surely applying to two post-bac programs is enough and I will be able to get into at least one, right?
  21. Well this is the first time I have to say that I wish the weekend would just hurry up and end. I am anxious for everyone to hear something! To pass the time I have been looking into post-bac programs as that is my plan B if I do not get accepted anywhere this time. I have a few questions for those who have done this. How do you get LOR's, do you get them from professors from your first degree, or do you get them from the professors at the post-bac program? I am looking at Utah State and some other classroom based programs and I may only have one class with a professor before I need them to write me a letter, and I do not feel like that is enough time for them to get to know me. Also, how competitive are the programs to get into? The deadlines I am looking at are not until June 1 and I was thinking of not submitting my application until April when I have more of an idea of the potential of me getting into a program this year. But should I just go ahead and submit my application now to get a head start on others? Thanks!

  23. I would say to concentrate on the GRE too and concentrate on getting good letters of recommendation since those are big in deciding whether or not to accept an applicant too.
  24. Yay for WCU and App State msw. Those seem to be popular schools on this board. Are you an in-field or out of field applicant?
