Oh, I have been in full on depression for some time now. My mom came over to see me from Arkansas. Like I said earlier, my son was shocked when I was happy the other day. Which is really, really sad. But, I finally just had to let some of it go. What will be, will be. With that said, the waiting is challenging. Just know, you aren't alone, my friend!

This is SO TRUE! I was talking to one of my friends in Estonia about her PhD program, and she was puzzled when I asked about cost, 'cause the state pays for it. I had mentioned I was paying for my tuition and my son's. The Master's program is just under $5000 a year for international students.

This is making me feel better. Ok State has had a couple of good years for research Fulbrights. I have had several conversations with my university about including the satellite campuses more. They seem to focus only the main campus. I graduated from our Tulsa campus, but I had to travel an hour and a half each way to go info meetings and my on-campus interview. I ended up being the only person from my campus who applied.

I was kind of an awful person a few weeks ago and commented on the embassy's (in Tallinn) Facebook's page about something they posted. I was being helpful, of course. I also changed my profile picture to my picture with the vice president, they might need to know I am a friend of the administration lol! But, I felt some guilt after I did it.
-
Yes you do! We need to see that article. Fulbright posted on Facebook today about two girls/best friends who won Fulbrights to different countries.
-
I am completely intimidated by all the people from large (more important) universities that applied. I am not competitive. I am assuming that because I am from an invisible Midwestern university that will work against me.
-
I am curious who got selected from my university. I haven't heard anything from my advisor. I am trying to get my friend to write an article about these highly competitive scholarships/grants like the Truman, Rhodes, Fulbright and how they effect the students and universities.

Yeah, I have been in a funk; thus my son was so surprised I was happy the other day. Lol! I have made the transition from "Oh PLEASE let it be today" to "Maybe today" to "Someone...anyone...hear something today." I would love to know before I see my friends on Thursday, but I am not holding my breath. And thank you for your confidence in me. I hope that my proposal was interesting enough for them to give me a chance (typo and all). You know we make so many edits to those proposals after a while you stop seeing things. *more notes for future applicants. We had 3 baptisms at church yesterday, and since I sing with the band I have the best view of the babies. Enjoy these moments, it's a huge accomplishment. I ran into one of my professors at an event on Saturday and I mentioned I was waiting on the Fulbright. She said she had applied when she was an undergrad at Cornell and didn't make the first cut. I was shocked! She is brilliant!

Morning Friends!! After a somewhat crappy Saturday, Sunday was lovely. Only 5 times on Sunday did I hear "You haven't heard anything yet??" Also, I get to see some Estonian friends later this week in Atlanta. I am so excited!! Someone mentioned how awesome our community is here, I completely agree!
-
This was me up until last week. I have been less like this of late. My son looked at me on Wednesday and said "Mom? You look happy." Hahahahaha!
-
Your presence is appreciated! Hopefully, our weary souls will be free soon. *It's 4:35CST I think we can call it for the week. Let the weekend begin!
-
I know many people have bailed from the board after they find out, but that's like leaving before the end of the movie. There are credits and you know there is a bonus scene coming up; just hang on! I appreciate you guys who are still with us. Hopefully we will have some good news soon. *the Magic 8 Ball said probably. "Way to be vague Magical 8 ball."
-
Awesome news! Congratulations!

Good morning! We meet again! Hopefully someone will get some news today. As to the applicability of the Fulbright, I think if you are going into academia it would be a selling point. Also, if your research is relevant to your long term goals (someone else mentioned this) then it can be helpful. Ultimately, you can spin it however you want.

Nothing here. Which is not unsurprising.
-
Sounds like you have a plan! It was nice getting to know you here. Good luck with all your endeavors! Check in with us on occasion.
-
That's awesome! So, you will be heading overseas no matter what. That is great!
-
Okay, I think I set this up correctly. Let's see.... **Edit 2: This is really not my gift. I didn't make it an open/closed group. Grrr... might need to start again. Lol!! **Edit 3: Okay, I will try this again later. Where is that Magic 8 Ball again...

I was missing you yesterday! Hope you are feeling better. We (Eastern European folks) finally got our "Save the Date" email yesterday. Our Pre-Departure training is July 21-23. Maybe this is a sign of progress. *fingers crossed*
-
Hey! An Estonian connection! Welcome to the board!! Love your screen name! Someone here said last week, "I would rather a slow yes, than a quick no." It's true, but waiting is tough. Hopefully, we will hear something soon.
-
Thanks! All this waiting gives one perspective, so I am trying to put myself in their (whoever the decision-making party may be) shoes. I try to imagine looking over all these proposals and letters, some topics may interest me, and some may not. It could be a daunting task. It's funny, now instead of getting messages from friends asking me if I have heard anything; they are saying "I know today is the day, I can feel it." Lol!! I did finally add this to my prayer list at church. I figure the prayer warriors might help. Now off to look for my Magic 8 Ball...
-
I am happy for some communication. The silence between January to now is insane! Hopefully you will hear something soon too.
-
That, I don't know. Many here had gotten this email a while back, and I remember worrying about it at them time, then I forgot. It will make you jump when you see something from IIE, but it just says that the orientation will be July 21-23 and you will be required to go IF you are selected. I would be on the look out for it. Hopefully, we will get news soon.

Did we decide about the Eastern Europe Fulbright group on Facebook yet? It was discussed, but did we decide? We should do it! But, I am horrible at all that sort of thing.
-
Very cool! Technically, I am still within the window of notification. I told one of my professors today I had no hope of hearing before May 1st. I would love to be wrong!
