  1. I don't think so. I am still hopeful for you. I know you have other opportunities, but I am still hopeful.
  2. Where did you apply? It's like they just woke up and said "oh yeah, you might need this info." Lol!!
  3. We are here to celebrate with ya! Congratulations!!
  4. Hey guys, how long ago did you get the save the date email? It was a long time ago right? I can't figure out why I am getting it now. Arg.
  5. How funny!! The haven't even seen the board yet! They might pass out if they saw the spread sheet.
  6. This is exactly what I thought when I read that. If they are finding more funds, surely that will be good for alternates.
  7. So, I just NOW got the email that everyone else got before about the "Hold the Date" business for D.C. Oh why, why?? Why do they toy with my heart so?!
  8. I have thought about emailing our person, I hear she is nice; but, I assume the answer will come when they are ready. My new theory: My life changing event is nothing but paperwork for someone else.
  9. Got ya! Well, let's hope they don't look at last year's May 1st notification date and think this should be the new normal. We really, really would like to know sooner. But with all these budget things...who knows?
  10. Yes, I needed that.
  11. The Baltics usually notify at the same time. What the heck? Craziness!!! (Trying to stay positive, trying to stay positive...)
  12. Yea! Congratulations!
  13. I was thinking it would be nice to give people some hints to help their chances. I had the opportunity to talk to a former committee person. He said to me, no hard knock stories unless it really explained why you wanted to study abroad. So, that helped me really focus on what I wanted to say. My personal statement became a companion to my research idea. You guys who did get awards might be able to help some people that are struggling with the direction of the paper.
  14. That just means you have less complications, in my opinion. It's nice to hear about all these instances of understanding significant others. I am not in that same boat. It's nice to hear that there are people who understand that not all learning can take place in one country. Or that the conventional wisdom of if a man has to travel for work he is doing it for the family, but if a woman wants to, she is just being selfish. I am encouraged that there are forward thinking people out there that can see the long-term benefits outweigh the short-term cost. Not trying to bring the conversation down, I just thought I would be honest. So, no news today? Really? I saw Iceland got notifications yesterday.
  15. I had to throw this link in also. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/france/travel-tips-and-articles/77032 See y'all tomorrow!
  16. Well, I guess we are not hearing anything today. It's fine... I'm okay...Not a nervous wreck, no...I can do this...Come on May! I can take it!
  17. I told him that we would visit Germany if we go to Estonia. So, fingers crossed! It is so lovely in Tallinn and in Tartu. Though I will admit, summer is best. And...in 2014 the big song festival will be going on in July. It only happens every 5 years. 25,000 singers in a chorus singing together! I can't wait!!
  18. My son wants to visit Germany so badly! It's one of his dreams.
  19. Let's do it!
  20. Morning all! Here we are again. I am trying to read through all the discussion from the weekend. It's funny how so many folks have Louisiana connections. My husband is from Louisiana. I hope we have a fruitful week! Come on Norway!! I am sending positive thoughts your way. This discussion about what makes a good application (personal statement) would be a helpful tool for future applicants. It is difficult to find such a thing, most are pretty vague.
  21. Yep, I think it is safe to say we are going to move on into the 4th week of April without knowing. Oh well, weekends are for "resting." Reality: Weekends are for explaining to everyone I have heard no news. Lol!!
  22. That's great news!! Congratulations!
  23. Wooohooo!!! Great News!
  24. If Sweden notified today, could this mean the Scandinavian countries may finally let people know? I can only imagine how you are feeling at the moment. We are sending you good thoughts!
  25. I started mine late. Mostly because I was in the middle of the campaign. But, it seems like so long ago. I had great mentors who wrote letters for me (I would love to see those). The University of Tartu staff were so nice, and responsive, and that was before we met in person! I got to hang out with them for an afternoon and talk to them, it was great. *sigh Anyway, hopefully news will arrive soon.
