  1. Aww thank you so much. That is very kind of you. Yes the reality is there are so many incredible people applying. In still crossing my fingers for this week but if it doesn't work out I'm sure it will in the future. Congrats on Laurier!!!
  2. I did and I changed it accordingly. I actually had it looked over by two social work professors (masters professors) so I assumed they knew what they were talking about? No no you didn't imply anything!! I know you are really trying to help. I just feel there is nothing more for me to do.
  3. Thank you . I actually had 2 friends and 2 profs and my boss look it over before submission. I'm sure you are better able to understand my frustration now. Oh well.
  4. That's the thing I'm really not sure what else to do. I currently work in eating disorders and (this is new since I submitted my application this year) I am coauthoring a paper with two social workers on stigma and anorexia. I am also speaking at an international conference on eating disorders later this year. I have also worked with the families of patients suffering from dementia and have worked with dementia patients themselves conducting art therapy groups. I have created a campaign to raise awareness about stigma and mental illness on college campuses. In my undergrad I was very involved in groups from a specific religious background. I have done outreach for postpartum depression. And I have spoken at a conference on stigma and mental illness in university. So I am honestly not sure what else to do. I am unfortunately no longer able to volunteer overseas at this point in my life which I know would really help me stand out. If you have any other ideas please let me know! I would love any feedback. Thank you for being so kind and consistent on here. I can tell how kind you are and how amazing you will be as a social worker.
  5. Yes and I was told that there is nothing to really improve on. I was told that my grades were high enough and my experience was also good...and that if I didn't get in this year to just apply again.
  6. Did they say anything about contacting them if you didn't plan to attend?
  7. Yes last year someone was told there was very little hope of movement and they got in two days before classes started and someone else got in a day before classes started. You never know. But having a backup plan is a good idea .
  8. Is that something someone said? Or is that your statement? And yes this is really what I'm hoping for. Acceptances after this date (next week).
  9. No not in the past few months. I spoke to Angela Recently. Hopefully it'll move!
  10. Yeah she told me the same thing. My thought is that it will move late August/ early September when people have to pay tuition and start giving up spots. That's what happened last year at least. I wonder if she sent us the same email? haha
  11. Well just as you said- if you don't get in (which hopefully you will) you are young and just out of school. You have plenty of time to get more experience. More experience will help you land a job after the program as well since you would be competing with everyone who graduates.
  12. It definitely is!! But you are in a good place. It's great they tell you your rank. It's only late June. Still time for movement. Stay hopeful!
  13. It's always encouraging to hear about people who have gotten off the waitlist. Also, if I may ask, what is your experience like?
  14. That must have been a difficult decision for you. Was this for the one or two year?
  15. I was thinking the same thing. I have been told not to contact them by several people.
  16. So where will you accept? You give me hope. I'm still waitlisted at U of T. Sigh.
  17. Gahhh everytime I try to like something my phone clicks the dislike by accident. I was trying to like that Beth got into Laurier!!!
  18. I find this rediculous. I have many friends who went to university in Quebec and have never heard of such rediculous policies when it came to their 3-year degree. You have clearly chosen a university that will provide you with a fantastic education for your MSW. I am glad that you decided to attend Laurier before any of this happened.
  19. Nope. I have a feeling some people got into more than one program or into more than one school and are waiting to make a decision. Or waiting for other programs and holding onto social work for now. I think there will be more spots opening up towards the end if summer/early September. But that's speculation.
