  1. congratulations!!!! You deserve it. You radiate such positivity.
  2. Thank you very much . I am so glad you got accepted this year. You are so kind and compassionate and seem to really fit the role of a social worker.
  3. That definitely could have helped. I wish I had done something like that but I'm honestly at a point in my life now where it's a bit too late to do that. Unfortunately. But it's ok. I'm kind of wondering if my GPA was a bit too low because I honestly don't think there is anything I can do in terms of experience to improve my application. So I am going to plan to take some more courses to boost my GPA in case I need to reapply next year.
  4. yep definitely. and apparently the number of applicants to teachers college has drastically decreased.. But I am also positive you still had an incredible application. you got into Laurier!
  5. I know exactly how you feel. Uncertainty is very stressful for me as well. Particularly because I find myself unable to sign contacts for jobs starting in September since I am not sure what is happening with grad school.
  6. Thank you very much. I am a bit confused as I thought I had really good experience but then again we are competing against the best!!
  7. I pray daily that I will get off the waitlist at U of T. I wish I knew where I stood on the waitlist.
  8. I agree it would be good to know where we stand. If you just finished undergrad you always have the opportunity to build your experience and apply again. That would also be beneficial when it comes to applying for jobs after your MSW because then you would be ahead of the game!
  9. If I may ask, what experience do you have and what is your GPA? Trying to determine where I sit if possible.
  10. Hmm I guess it's true. But that's ok. I'm sure there will be more spots opening up.
  11. Nope. I haven't heard about anyone getting in yet. You sure it's the two year?
  12. oh thank you. It was me but then I decided to look back and find the post anyway. Thank you!!!
  13. oh my gosh I tried to hit thumbs up above and it hit thumbs down!!! How do I change it?!!!!! aHHHH sorry.
  14. Did you mean can or can't? From what I hear its very hard to get a job after a degree in OT. I applied to OT last year but was flat out rejected. There's an 8-10 percent chance of acceptance into a program for OT.
  15. So I had a random comment to make: I applied to two programs- social work and OT ( I am DEFINITELY leaning towards social work). Anyway, I also look at an OT forum and I have to say that the difference between the people on there and the people on here is insane. On here everyone is supporting one another and encouraging one another and on the OT forum it's like a huge competition- people laughing that they are getting interviews when others aren't etc. This is what pushes me towards social work- the fact that the people in the program seem to be so friendly and actually INCREDIBLE people. I am very turned off by what I see and have seen from the people in the OT programs. Unfortunately it seems that OT schools focus on grades as around 80% and experience for the other 20% which is very unfortunate as these are the people who will be helping many of the aging baby boomers. This system needs to be changed. BUT I am glad to say that social work takes experience way more seriously and realizes how important it is for someone to have experience and a kind heart for this career. Yay social work!
