  1. I just got an email invitation for Midwestern University! Trying to figure out getting off work for it now. So excited! First feedback that I've received!
  2. So happy to hear that people are hearing back already! Maybe that means that I'll hear something back soon
  3. The anxiety is killing me too! I just can't wait to hear back!
  4. Just turned in my second to last application! Just have to finish up my letter of intent for my last app, due February 15! Let the waiting begin!
  5. Speaking of CSDCAS, I got a little confused on Portland State's website. Do we need to fill out a PSU application for their website, or is it just for students who are waitlisted in the program come April? I have everything complete for Portland when it comes to CSDCAS, but I wasn't sure about the PSU application on their website. Thanks!
  6. Oh my gosh it is way too expensive! I think it's really stupid that on top of the CSDCAS fee we have to pay the individual university fee. This is ridiculous. Ugh. And I'm applying to like 8 schools too, which makes it even more ridiculous!
  7. I'm just thankful for this thread so I don't have to wait by myself! No one else understands haha..
  8. Hmm, well I don't think that it would matter at all, but I'm not 100% sure. I would think that if you planned to take it and they had a concern, they would contact you during the app process or something...? You could even call where you're applying just to double check, I'm sure that's a safe option!
  9. HAHA RIGHT! I thought the same thing.. and then I remembered that and that I have to do well in these last few COMD reqs
  10. Hm yeah, I only have a couple classes to take this summer so I believe I may be able to squeeze either chem or physics in. I'm not sure which one to take though. I'll have to look at some course reviews! Thanks Hope you're having a great break!
  11. Ugh I am just not excited. I'm so dreading checking the mail and emails after I send in my apps. It's like... my whole next two years depend on what happens with this in three months! Ah!
  12. So, is anyone else really dreading this 3 month wait that we have?
  13. Good morning all! I was just wondering if any of you waited until you were in the grad program to take the prerequisite physical science? I don't have it done yet because I was only required to take one science class during my undergrad and I chose anatomy, and now that I'm in the COMD prereqs I don't know if I'll be able to handle chem with my other four COMD classes next semester. Did anyone else not have it and then took it later? Thanks! Karissa
  14. Hey everyone! I'm just now joining this thread! I've finished two applications that were due in January and am now working on the apps that are due in February. All of them are done aside from essays and some LORs. How's everyone doing with their apps?
  15. Oy Vey. Grad school application fees are ridiculous.

  16. In one of the sections in the instructions/FAQs it states that the schools that you have chosen have been able to see your application since it was created. For example, I started receiving emails from the schools that I had listed even though I had not completed my application. The schools have certain standards for the CSDCAS application, such as the orange, green and blue color coordinations. The school will be able to see if your application has been completed, and if it is orange, it does not need to be verified in order for your application to be considered for admission, but if it is green, it will choose not to look at it unless the application has been verified by CSDCAS. I received this information from the "Completing the Application" section of the Instructions. It mentions what I said in the question at the bottom, "Can schools view my application online?"
  17. Hey everyone! I just graduated with my bachelors in psychology through a small private school in Northeast Ohio. I'm currently taking classes for a 2nd bachelors in Communication science and disorders through Utah State online. I'm thinking about potentially doing my gradschool in the Northwest, but I'm not sure where. I'm a little worried because I don't have the perfect scores to get in, but I'm gonna go for it anyways. I'm taking the GRE this fall before I apply. My GPA through Malone was a 3.02. I'm hoping that I can get a 4.0 for these classes and have a different attitude than I did in my 1st bachelors so I will work hard. I have a ton of counseling and volunteer experience and great references. Any ideas of places where I should try and/or can get in? Thanks
  18. Does anyone know about the 2nd bachelors program at Utah State in SLP (well, technically Communicative Sciences)? I'm thinking that if I do this program online, it might help me with grad school apps. It will take the same amount of time that it would for me to do all of my prereqs and it will also be cheaper. Can someone give me advice on this? THanks
  19. So, I'm a senior at a small private Christian university in northeastern Ohio. I'm planning to apply to an SLP masters program at a state school near me, and potentially two or three more schools in the area. But, I'm really concerned because I'm terrified that I don't have a chance getting into grad school because of my GPA. I'm a student in psychology, and will graduate in about a week. Next year, I am taking the post-bacc course requirements in order to be considered for a grad program in SLP. When I graduate, I will have between a 3.0-3.2 overall GPA (Not sure quite yet due to retaking one 4 credit course). I have not taken the GRE yet, but plan on doing so this summer. When I was a sophomore, I wasn't looking at the grand scheme of things and ended up getting quite a few Cs which brought my GPA down. And so I've been freaking myself out on the inside. Before this semesters courses are calculated in, I have a 3.02 GPA for upper-level requirements. My academic advisor in psychology specialized in research and physiological psychology and has been working on a research practicum with me in relations to SLP. She also told me that because of my character and work ethic I have a chance for getting into grad school in an SLP program. She is eager to write a reference for me. I have another professor that told me that my work ethic towards my classes resembles an individual in grad school and she really enjoys reading my papers. I am going to ask those two and one other professor for LoRs. I have had a lot of volunteer experience in many different areas, including working with elderly nursing home residents who have an acquired language or auditory disorder such as aphasia and loss of hearing. I have many other hours of volunteer experience not relating to SLP. Lastly, I have done research in the area of treatment of speech sound disorders and compiled a research paper for one of my classes. My professor is planning on giving me feedback after she grades it. So, I guess my question is... does anyone think that I have any type of chance getting into grad school for SLP? And will they also consider the post bacc requirements that I am taking this fall? I will be applying for the 2014-2015 academic year, hoping to start in fall of 2014 in a masters SLP program. If anyone could reply and let me know what they think, that would be great. Thank you so much and have a great afternoon!
