  1. No problem! Well, I'll be attending Midwestern University in Chicago, not Midwestern State, but I haven't started yet! I'll be starting late August. I did do an interview on campus before being accepted. I fell in love with the campus at the interview and am so excited for this opportunity!
  2. I was able to pick up the Praxis review book through my local library (they use OhioLink between the different universities in Ohio) and am so excited to start using it after my test this weekend! I'm thrilled that I found it through the library while I save up some pennies to buy a copy for myself
  3. I did USU along with sayjo! I was debating between a local school (University of Akron) and USU's courses, and because I needed to have a job, USU was what I chose! It was also about $10,000 cheaper (for real) to do it online through USU! I couldn't have been more happy with a program. I finished all of my prereqs in three semesters as well, aside from one that I am taking during my first semester at MWU through USU. You may even qualify for financial aid if you pursue their 2nd bachelors program, which can also be done in 3-4 semesters!
  4. My undergrad was a 3.1 when I graduated, and my SLP coursework was a 3.75. I didn't think that I would get in, and here I am!
  5. The snow is bad but you will be ok! Just remember this: Pump your brakes, don't slam them. Have some faith in yourself, all of us northerners have had to learn how to drive in the snow with experience, and now it's your turn!
  6. Anyone thinking about living on campus for the first semester if you're out of state?

That makes sense. I'm going to an all graduate school so I wouldn't have to deal with the UG party scene. Still debating on it though.

If it's an all graduate school and the rent isn't bad, I think you should go for it! I LOVED my undergraduate experience living on campus, it's so easy to meet people and make lifelong friends. :)

I'm on the wait list for the university's family housing. But, it's actually a pretty good price compared to the rest of the city.

  7. I'm still trying to figure out mine... I'm looking at living on campus for the first quarter and figuring out if I can get an apartment after that because it's just so overwhelming trying to find a place out of state!!
  8. Finding a place to live is stressful :(

Yes! Just got turned down for the school housing I wanted. :(

  9. Good idea! I am too nervous for start and because I just have prereqs, I am thinking this may be the perfect solution! And you said it's wonderful! I'm guessing much worth the investment! Thanks for sharing!

For housing too if you're an international student.

  11. Gah I can't believe that I have to move for grad school in 2 months! I'm gonna struggle with figuring out what to take! I have to downsize my belongings too since I'm moving 7 hours away... goodness I am so excited! I love this thread! It will be so helpful!
  12. Can't believe I move to Chicago in two months! Yay grad school!

  13. Ugh I found all but one! I'm desperately searching! I'm calling to talk to the program director tomorrow.
  14. I've been accepted to Midwestern for this fall!
  15. Wait listed... Sigh.

  16. Hey all! Just curious- I know that these are not the same at all, but do you think that for PREREQUISITE purposes, that a school would consider neuroscience of communication for a speech and hearing science? Like I said, I know that they are two completely different classes, but I just wanted to get some input to see if anyone thinks it could be counted as the prerequisite in that category. Thanks in advance!
  17. Anyone been wait listed? I found out yesterday. Not really sure if anything will come of it! But here's to hoping!
  18. Nevermind everyone... I thought I would try to cram them in but I'd rather not since it's going to be hard to find any and it's just a wait list. We'll see what happens! Happy forum-ing!
  19. Does anyone know if there are any courses offered for 7 weeks later in the summer? I need an intro to aud and speech and hearing science class. I got a wait list notification really late (today) from a school that I was under the impression of being rejected from and need two more courses that I didn't expect. I'm not sure I want to get my hopes up, but I would like to be prepared just in case. It's my top choice school so I'm kinda freaking out that they didn't let me know sooner so that I could prepare accordingly... but such is the SLP grad school app process I suppose!
  20. I got a wait list today from Midwestern University. Now I'm kinda freaking out because I was in the mindset that there was no chance of me going anywhere this year and I was going to strengthen my app for next year... I'll have to find somewhere that offers the other courses that I need in a short 7 week session over the summer... anyone know anywhere? I only need a few but if I don't do them over the summer and I get accepted I won't be able to go! Wish I would have known when it was time to schedule my classes for USU!
  21. Yeah I called the lady that gave us her contact info on the interview day. I can't remember what her name was off hand. Donna maybe? I called like 3 weeks ago. I'm just getting kinda frustrated, I mean, I know that they have a big decision to make and lots of apps to go through, but if you're gonna take longer than three weeks to tell people then don't tell them that they'll know within 2-3 weeks on the day of their interview and wait over 6 weeks.. ya know?
  22. I'm getting kind of antsy with hearing back from Midwestern Univ.. My interview was 2/26 and they said we would hear back within 3 weeks! I called like 2 weeks ago and they said that it was still under review. Ugh- even if I'm rejected, I just wanna know!
  23. Did anyone get the admissions update from Western Michigan? It confused me a little because I can't tell whether they implied a wait list or not.
