  1. I am looking at a possible test date of Sept 21st. Do you think that is a reasonable amount of time to study for this test?
  2. I have ben working on vocabulary now. Picking ten words at a time, writing them out, and defining them. This helps me retain it a little more.
  3. Welcome!! It looks like we're going to try and meet on tinychat, between 12-4 on Sunday (Pacific time). I haven't registered for my test yet, but I think in the next few weeks, depending on how I feel that my studies are coming along, I might just go ahead and do it.
  4. I have an older laptop and I think I am going to have to cave and get a new one. For the MPA program, it is recommended to have a laptop, but I am unsure if I should get a netbook, or a regular laptop with an optical drive? The laptop I have now is 17" and it's cumbersome to carry around. With having to carry a burden of a laptop, and a number of who-knows how many books, I am not sure what type of computer would suffice? I do have an awesome, fully updated desktop at home, so any information can be transfered to it.
  5. I am focusing on one thing after another. Right now, building up vocab. I am soooo out of practice on all of it, that I just need to be thorough on all subjects.
  6. I downloaded tinychat to my phone.
  7. Just skimming through, Some schools require Stats and Microeconomics. I am applying to Sacramento State for fall next year, and they require Stats, MicroE, and Gov. So you might want to see what schools you are interested in, and what their requirements are. Some programs differ from others.
  8. Sounds good to me. Plus I have to set up that program too. In the meantime... not sure what cell service you have, but check out the app called "painless GRE". It's a great tool in helping with vocab words. It will give you little "tests" of 10 words, tells you the meaning and how to use it in a sentence. Then it tests you by either multiple choice questions and fill in the blanks (testing your ability to spell it), and it's all timed.
  9. Okay, I posted my available times.... I cannot do it Saturday, but I can on Sunday. Saturday I volunteer half the day, and the rest of the day I am spending with my stepdaughter and family.
  10. Oh okay. I just wanted to make sure!!!
  11. Did we specify the time zones for those times listed on the poll?
  12. Hey ya'll.... sorry I am late getting on tonight. Okay so what is this tinytime/tinytalk? I haven't heard of this? I am down for studying this weekend. I want to get started too. I discovered some good apps for android uses that help with vocabulary, if you are interested. Let me know!!!! My email is tlcowgill@hotmail.com I have access to it all day.
  13. It's all done. Printed on nice paper, no letter head, and just my name, department in top corner.
  14. Hi Sarab, Well I have skype... email, texting... we can use it to ask questions, go over different problems and different solutions. Etc.
  15. I have the 2014 version so it has an online program and also a bunch of practice tests (and practice problems through the book). I am on Chapter 4, working on my vocabulary right now. I have a lot to work on.
  16. Hey Mono, nice to see you again. Did you pick up any books? I only have the Kaplan at the moment.
  17. I am hoping to take the GRE by the end of September. Hopefully that will give me enough time to review materials and practice.... Is anyone else out there doing the same? If you want to try and study together, let me know.
  18. I found a nice, respectable paper... printed the department application, resume, statement of purpose, etc., all on the same paper. It looks good. Thanks for all of your input!! It was very helpful. With 75 days to go until I submit my application... jumping on the GRE studying wagon.
  19. Yeah for the department, it's an application packet, so it's all paper. It's a written application, plus the LoRs, and the SoP, unofficial copies of transcripts, and resume. So just plain paper? What about heading? Should I put my name and "Statement of Purpose" at the top?
  20. It is NEVER too late to learn. There are people all over the world getting degrees and going back to school at an older age. I am 38 years old, and I am just now finishing my bachelor's degree and looking into a master's program. In fact, I read an article not too long ago, in which a young man by the age of 80, just graduated with his bachelor's degree. It happens all the time. I say go for it. You will gain more confidence in yourself, and it will open so many doors for you!!! Learning is fun, and you never know where your education will take you! Good luck!
  21. As far as what kind of paper to print it out... is it supposed to be on letterhead, or plain paper? I can't find anything that states how to present it. Any suggestions?
  22. SoP DONE! Now... time to study for the GRE...

      Great!

Interestingly, the situation's the exact opposite for me.

  23. Welcome and Good luck!! The application period for me (for all schools) is Oct. 1s through Dec. 1st, to be considered for priority admission... I am hoping to get it all done very soon.
  24. Very Nice! When does your application deadline start?
