  1. No I didn't... Do you have to have an account on their site?
  2. What's really funny, is a few years ago, I would never have dreamt that I was going to try and get involved in politics. And here I am. lol It's strange how our paths can change!
  3. Amen to that! I work for a government entity and my masters will be in public policy and administration. The door to my future career literally opened for me this morning when I talked with the COO of my company. I relayed my interest in learning more about the legislative process that our company is involved in and she was more than excited to try and get me more involved and said she'd do what she can to help me learn everything and become more involved. Now, I just have to apply and get into the program of my interest to help me flourish!
  4. So far, I have not received anything negative. The professors I have met, and also my co-workers have all been very supportive. In a way, I think I am in my "prime" for going to graduate school. What are you planning to study?
  5. Leaving work in an hour, to take a tour of the campus I hope to attend. *Feeling excited*

Good to see the Navy back in action! :P

  6. I understand. I don't have the luxury of moving, unfortunately... so I am forced to stay where I am and chose programs close to me. It's a struggle living in a 1 income household, and I am the one bringing it home, while going to school full time. It has caused a bit of high stress for me. Trying to get through it.
  7. So we can just register and automatically get an archive? That would be great... !
  8. DTB, Did you memorize the full definition, or just got the idea of what the word meant? What's more important?
  9. Catching up from being sick. 35 words down today. Still got 20 more to go to catch up. :/

Hey, long time. How're u feeling now?

  10. Just became discouraged after a practice test...

No need to be discouraged. I attempted 5 timed practice tests. Scores were pretty dismal in all of them. But my actual scores, as u know, were not that bad! So keep your chin up. :)

  11. Do you have your scores yet? I feel "good" but not overly confident in my abilities yet...
  12. Is that the one that has a touch screen also? I'm "sort of" familiar with some computer specs, but I haven't had an iCore processor before so I don't know if they are reliable, fast, etc? As far as specs are concerned, how do you feel about the performance of it?
  13. Making progress on the GRE studying... slow progress.

Nice!! :) On the text completion part, I got 17 out of 19 questions right. I need to work on the equivalence and comprehension. I did fairly well, but my weakness is the vocab.

Yay! I got the results from a practice test I took on Monday, and I improved by 10 points on both verbal and math. That's definitely progress!

      Sara that's awesome!! Good job!!!

  14. I am doing the same thing, actually. I am trying to memorize 15 words per day at a minumum. Each day I revisit the the older ones to keep at it. My goal is to have all 500 memorized by the next 4 weeks. So far it's helping... I took the first VR practice test in my Kaplan book. Did well in 1 section, but not so well in 2 others and I know a lot of it has to do with my lack of vocabulary knowledge. The more I understand, the more confident I feel. You will get there too.
  15. Would that only be for the SoP? It's only just over a page, and well, the rest of my application is the 1 page app, 1 page resume, unofficial transcripts, and the sealed LoRs..
  16. Thanks for the response and your concern and perhaps I will limit my information on my page, but honestly I was not looking for an opinion regarding your thoughts on LoRs. This thread is regarding the GRE test. And besides, my professor has never met me in person so he would not know what I look like.
  17. Thanks!!! It does help to hear it from that perspective. I am very lucky in that my husband is dedicated to helping me study this. He sat with me for 3 hours tonight just reviewing algebra and geometry (my weak points). I have found that there are MANY things that I have forgotten in the years since I last took math. So, this will definitely take a lot of practice and hard work. But I am sure it will be worth it. I just can't wait to start seeing results....
  18. Unfortunately no. For my program I am required to take the GRE.
  19. Yes... I DO know this. That is why my professor sent me an original sealed copy in an envelope for my application.. He just decided to email me an unofficial copy for me to read.
  20. I saw there were some old threads on this, so I figured I would start a newish one, for myself and newer applicants. I am 38, married, with two kids. I have 2 associates, and almost done with my BA. I am applying for the first time, to an MPA program for Fall 2014. I am a little rusty in some areas, so I am a little nervous about taking on this challenge. If you are an older student, and would like to connect to vent, talk, etc. Let me know.
  21. Hey guys, Yeah we did meet yesterday. It was pretty cool. Got to know each other, discussed what we all need to work on, exchanged information, and came up with a game pan. We plan to meet again next Sunday, same time. (see above information regarding chat room name).
  22. I'm up! I'm up!!!! Where's my coffee....
  23. Peer reviewed journals found on JSTOR and also Wallstreet Journal are supposed to be really good sources of reading material. I also subscribed to a few sites that email you a "word of the day" to help expand my vocabulary.
  24. I second this. The words I am doing are just ten random words I pick up from my phone app. I have it so it shuffles the words. Then I look them up, write them down and read them a few times. It's been helping a little. The only issue I am having is retaining the knowledge.
