I agree Canis. Those are very important questions to ask, and I encourage everyone to email the grad coordinator/assistant. I have found that they are usually very helpful, and if they don't know, they will tell you who does. The survey lets us compare the basics though, and that's something good to know.

It seems to me that people are notified by the POI when they email asking about something (application status or sometimes something else) or after an interview. In my case, I had an interview and my POI emailed me a couple of days later with the good news. From another program, I didn't get an interview or an email from my POI but got accepted. The other two I just got emails from the GSAS.

Hm, I thought I could easily share the results, but sharing is only available for paid accounts. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can share it without making things complicated?

Yes, you should email the grad coordinator and say something like "I appreciate you taking the time to review my application, but at this time I would like to withdraw it since I will be accepting another offer." So happy for you!

I'm declining the wait list from CUNY, but I still haven't decided between USCD and Michigan. I'm considering several things: Fit Funding offer and the support the university gives students to get outside funding/ how often students get outside funding. Cost of living Weather (I know it might seem silly, but if I'm going to commit to living in once place for 5-8 years then I need to know if I'll feel comfortable there). What the support of the faculty's like. How TAing/RAing works. Placement after graduation. Retention. Experiences of current grad students. It's a lot but then again grad school is a big deal, our futures are a big deal.

Great advice Canis! It wouldn't work for me because I'm married and my husband might not get a job straight away, and we wouldn't want roommates... but great advice for those who have more flexibility.
