I just got an email notification that I'm a finalist for UCSD ! Check messages at grad apply.
-
I think the long thread is good :-). We're talking...talking is good. I don't think we are any more freaked out here than any other group. BTW, I remember someone getting in to Berkeley. There could be more but I remember this one because there was some discussion about the studios being some distance from the main campus and trying to decide between Berkeley and some other school with that in mind. anyway, cheers!

dominant gene don't know how that happened! off putting

How many people are waiting on UCSD?
-
Right. I took a long time to post that last comment...got distracted. Sorry.
-
These are all very different programs. No need to worry.
-
Sorry to hear that. It was just one combination of possibilities that didn't work out—it has little to no bearing on other outcomes. What school was that for and what other places have you applied to? Edit: this is directed to czarina

That's great, congrats on the OSU acceptance! To answer your previous question, it seems like a pretty clear acceptance to me...maybe with some disorganization or confusion over who is supposed to contact you...or some such thing.
-
Ha! I guess you figured it out already.
-
Hi tomberry, You add the info by going into edit profile and then look for signature on the right hand side. Congrats on your acceptance!
-
I would give it a day or two. Nope. You're just missing the nuance in the questions. What are you applying for anyway, and where?
-
Good points! Congrats to all those getting SAIC interviews, and good luck!
-
I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to brainstorm ideas for dealing with the various kinds of interviews beyond a list of potential questions, although that is useful. I think phone and Skype interviews can be particularly challenging as it is harder (or impossible) to read body language. What are people's experiences? What are effective ways to prepare for them?
-
Pretty sure most people blank out in situations like that. It is really hard to already "own" work you are thinking of doing...maybe it wasn't even been conceived in the context of some other artist's work. I wouldn't worry about it. Thanks for the report. Things seem to be going well for you, congrats!

I see that some people have started to list their results in the "submit results" at the top of the page. If we all remember to do this, there will be good, easy to find info for the next round of applicants.

Congrats iomarch! "the school that wants you suddenly starts to look a lot better than the schools that don't...." hahaha...no doubt. I hope they offer you good money!

Also, not everyone who gets accepted to UCLA gets a phone call...their official stance is that they don't interview but sometimes they give you a call. What program area did you apply to FAR?
-
It seems the Erpnope got the first (for this site) phone call interview from UCLA last year seems on Feb 19th and final decisions started to show up on March 7th. USC is a little more mysterious. Skype interviews were done early March and final notifications were sent out mid to late March. I'm not sure when people got interview invites.

Thanks mlk. I suspect that your ability to assess your work, and your last round of applications critically is probably working in your favor now. Good luck!
-
Sorry to hear that bathtub. Congrats mlk! Where did you apply last time...if you don't mind my asking?
-
Good question. I guess everyone has different reasons for the choices they make. Mine, have a lot to do with lifestyle--long term geographic connections--and family considerations (that include husband and children). I chose schools that would work all around and feel like they justify the necessary sacrifices. If I don't get in anywhere...so be it! I have already gotten a lot out of the process, to date. I think, for me, each of my choices do offer something I wouldn't get anywhere else.

Sorry to all those who had bad news this evening. I hope I didn't sound dismissive, I know it is painful to get rejections and I'm not looking forward to how I'm going to feel when my own start coming in. It is nice to get a big batch of results though. Here's hoping that we all get some good news soon!
-
Congrats pallavi.sen, things seem to be going well for you! Also, dwise1. For those who didn't get a Yale interview, you're in good company! Onward and upward!

Sorry to hear that meece. I don't think it is so unusual for people to be turned down by their fallback, only to get in some where else. Time will tell! Thanks marzipanned for letting us know how things went for your interview. I guess...chalk that up to experience? As a general rule, interviews are awkward all around and anyone who comes away feeling satisfied, is pretty lucky.
