  1. Usually the resume is one page; the CV can be any length depending on the experience, but at your stage I would limit it to two pages if possible.
  2. Just try one or two. Can you ask for a fee waiver?
  3. Hi all, is anybody applying to the Psychology Phd program at UPenn and Brown? Do you know what's the SOP length? I could not find that info anywhere.
  4. I am in the same situation. Consider though that the deadline for the LORs is in general more flexible than the general deadline. I would just write something like: Dear Prof., I would like to remind you about the letter of recommendations for etc. I will resend the recommendation requests so you have them all in your inbox etc. If he still does not send them in a few days, I would email again and mention that the deadlines have passed etc.
  5. I would say 520ish, max 550 if you must, but no more than that.
  6. I was wondering if a Times Series statistics class could be useful as well for a future psychology researcher. What do you think, from your experience? Usually Times Series is more targeted for finance, but I thought maybe it could be useful for neuroimaging.
  7. Oh, I see! Well maybe 800 is a little too much, I would aim for 700 maximum. I understand it's hard to cut down when there is not really a word limit.
  8. I would reduce the space dedicated to personal anecdotes, future plans after graduation, and anything that can be found on the CV, to focus on future research plans and fit.
  9. Same here! I was intimidated as well, but everyone has been very nice.
  10. OK, I am sure you will be fine.
  11. I am pretty sure you should send in the CV.
  12. I would think carefully about the housing job. I have had manager on call positions before, and while these jobs can be very well paid, they are also stressful and, if not stressful, extremely time consuming. Basically you will be thinking about the housing job every morning, afternoon and evening. These jobs are very well paid for a reason.
  13. I started contacting profs at the end of October, worried it was too late. They have been all very kind, and I have kept sending emails to today. Sometimes you decide to add a school to your list at the last minute. In my opinion it is not necessary but it is a good idea.
  14. Let me add a consideration. If you do a master at CUNY (or at SUNY, for example Stony Brook, if they have one) you can still collaborate with labs at Columbia, NYU, Princeton etc All you have to do is to send an email to the lab manager, state your interests etc. I am not say it is easy, but if you send out twenty emails, something will work out.
  15. In general, I would go for the master, possibly at a state university. Less expensive, basically same results. Master programs are designed to give you the experience you need. In a postbac program like Columbia you are mostly on your own. Some people succeed there, some don't (but the price tag is the same). People on this forum speak well of Hunter College's master (in the CUNY system). Just to give you all the information I have, I'have just read that there is a new postbac program at Berkeley. But again, that's a huge expense and the results are not guaranteed. Finally, if possible I would apply this year to at least one program. Even if you don't get in, it will help you tremendously the next time around. Practice makes perfect! You are a musician, you know that.
  16. Sorry, I don't know about Texas. You may try this forum about quant programs: https://www.quantnet.com/forum/quant-programs.25/?prefix_id=1
  17. I think you have a good profile!
  18. I think that the LOR can be a few days/ one week late even, but the SOP and the rest of the application must be submitted on time.
  19. Sorry to hear that, can you take it again in three weeks?
  20. I think that you need to post this in the engineering forum.
  21. I think that you need to post this in the specific forum related to your field.
  22. Well in particular for the GRE, once you are above the cutoff it does not really matter.
  23. How many schools are you applying to? Just make sure you send out your four GRE scores right away. I don't remember how it works with the TOEFL. Anyway don't worry, they will arrive on time.
  24. Why? If it says that the cutoff is 300, and you have 307, then you are fine. Just focus on the rest of your application. Once you are above the cutoff, nobody is going to look at your GRE score again.
  25. Do you have the average stats from those departments?
