  1. I don't have a specific lesson plan, and the way I study depends on my capability... for example, if I don't have much work to do I will spend the entire day on my weakest spot (i.e. probability, rates in quant and reading comprehension in verbal). If I have classes or work I usually do lighter stuff like memorizing vocabulary words, maybe a few text completion questions here and there, or the least thing I could do is to flip through Quizlet flashcards on my phone. BUT if I am tired - no books, no prepping. Nothing. Just some good amount of sleep. I will take some time off from studying, get a good rest, and won't get back to my books until I feel better. Like csibaldwin mentioned above, everyone is different. Magoosh lesson plan might suit you, but I don't think it's the best option for me. Above all else just make sure you don't push yourself too hard because your health on the test day > everything else.
  2. I somehow hate the taste of home-brewed coffee, or to be specific - coffee that I brewed on my own. Maybe I'm just a horrible at coffee brewing although I have a year worth of experience as a barista
  3. ah that's not fun. I can do probability, but definitely not 5 advanced level questions in like what, 7 minutes? That's just insane. Basic probability is okay, but when it comes to complex stuff like "find the probability of winning $5 by throwing a dice 3 times - and each number on the dice has different amount of dollars etc etc" um, how about no
  4. Same here. I memorized ~500 words before took a few days off from studying, and when I got back to it I found out that I have forgotten at least 100 of them
  5. I just did a practice test, and the last 4 questions were all probability-related, with high level of difficulty! I did well in the first section so the second section was ridiculously hard. And we know - or at least me - that probability questions require a lot of time to be solved, so I bombed all four and that really ruined my score. I wonder if this scene is possible in the real test?
  6. I think it all depends on your machine after all. If you run it on a fast PC then it's all good. But my laptop is shoddy so I should expect it to crash often.
  7. I've been using Manhattan Prep GRE Strategy Guide #7 for Reading Comprehension and #8 for Text Completion/Sentence Equivalence.
  8. I am on the edge of burning out because I have been prepping intensively for the past 20 days (5-10 hours a day). I have covered pretty much everything (except the analytical writing part) so I guess it's time to slow down a bit...?
  9. I see. I've been prepping for less than a month and my practice test scores are all over the place. There was one time I took a Kaplan test and I got 149 in verbal. I took another Kaplan test exactly a day after that and it went up to 160. I am so confused.
  10. I have a question: did you guys do all these practice tests just a few days before the actual test or spread out throughout your study period i.e. 2-3 months?
  11. Awesome. I just googled those softwares and I found out that those are OSGeo softwares. I am definitely going to install these on my computer and learn how to use it on my own for additional skills.
  12. Awh, that's a good news. Have you used any other spatial analysis software than Arc? My department heavily focuses on Arc and I have yet to learn other kinds of software. Not that I have mastered Arc like a pro but you know, sometimes you feel like trying something new...
  13. 99 is no way a low score. Although the average might be as high as 110 but I think the minimum TOEFL score requirement for those schools (or for Wisconsin at least) is around 92-93, so yours is good enough. I think you should focus more on your LoC, personal statement and even GRE, and not to worry much about your TOEFL.
  14. I haven't burned out yet - perhaps because I'm still on my summer break so I don't have much to do other than studying. But school starts next week and I'm just hoping I still can steal some time for prepping.
  15. What are the exact scores, if you don't mind me asking?
  16. Quantity A Quantity B qr 3 5 s qr x s 3 x s 5 s qrs x 5 3 x 5 5 qrs 15 Compare these values with qrs > 12 qrs could be more than 15 and still be more than 12 e.g. qrs = 16, 17, 18... qrs could be less than 15 and still be more than 12 e.g. qrs = 14, 13 Hence the relationship cannot be determined from the information given. Hope this helps.
  17. I'm using 10.1 now and it still crashes occasionally. But it might be my shabby laptop though.
  18. You sure? I am bit paranoid as I thought I need as much material as possible, haha! Thanks though!
  19. Yeah that's what I thought too. The tests are way far too different than other practice tests that I've done so far, let it be the format, difficulty level or the interface. Do you have any recommendations on full-length tests that I could access - either free or for purchase? So far I have the Powerpreps, 6 Manhattan tests, Magoosh, Princeton Review, Kaplan, McGraw Hill and myGREtutor.
  20. I'm not in the grad school yet, but I'm applying to one soon. I am currently a senior in college, studying cartography/GIS. I am more of a cartography guy than GIS, which means I prefer the design, aesthetic part of mapping than actually doing technical, computative stuff. GIS has a high utilitarian value nowadays so I think it is a pretty good decision to deviate from urban studies to GIS as they are both complementary to each other. But GIS is computer-intensive, so I guess you have to love dealing with machines in the first place PS: If you haven't used ArcGIS before, I warn you, that little devil crashes all frickin time.
  21. http://www.greguide.com/free-gre-full-length-tests/free-full-tests-home.html I ran out of free full-length practice tests so I decided to give this website a shot. I just went through each one of the quantitative and verbal sections and I find the questions waaaaaaay too difficult. I wonder if it was only me or their questions are indeed ridiculously tough compared to the real GRE...? (notice that the interface does not completely resemble the real GRE - there's no back and review button!)
  22. Apparently I posted the same topic just now before I realize you can find anything you need here: http://forum.thegradcafe.com/forum/68-gregmatetc/
