  1. Query: Is there anyone around these parts who did happen to get in..?
  2. I said be resourceful, not be an idiot.
  3. I finally figured out what song this thread reminds me of.
  4. TV taught me how to feel, now real life has no appeal.

  5. Ugh.. I have to pull out the mud pit. Guy living in the hole in the ground, the mudpit, can only see mud and muck all around him and then the little slice of sky at the top. At night he sees stars. He lives his muddy little life, eats his muddy food, and strives to make mud art and does the best with the mud around him. He watches the stars above, not really knowing much about them or comprehending them.. because that's well beyond what the mud allows.. But there's another man, in a spaceship.. looking down at the whole world and everything around the mud pit and all the stars visible beyond the atmosphere. He looks like a star to the mud man, who is oblivious to the existence of spaceships and how they can look just the same as stars moving across the night sky. In the mud man's world does that mean that spaceships do not exist? That there isn't a man up in space who can see and know so much more than the mudman? No, it's just that the mudman is ignorant, and worst of all, doesn't even begin to know or consider that he is ignorant. No, he sees mud and mud is all. It may not be bad, but it's not what I want. You settle. You set your limits. I'm going to live outside them and exceed them in ways you'd never imagine.
  6. If i recall correctly, the other 3 had you saying that people were reporting things that the mods shouldn't be bothered with.. mostly implying that you had whiners. While I sympathize that you had to deal with people unable to fight their own battles as adults, it really doesn't reflect poorly on me. As you said, I'm allowed to disagree with them and voice that disagreement. So sayign that i've somehow caused multiple problems here is really being unfair. About as unfair as being the reader on the adcom who now has to read 40 pages instead of the usual 20, just sayin.
  7. Well, I hear there are these schools that admit girls who are only looking for husbands. I've deduced those wont be good places to find lesbian partners, or atleast at minimum your "pool" of probable co-lesbians is x-1 versus just x at other schools.
  8. No, i dont know how to get into whatever particular school you'll cite. I never claimed to. I did claim to be resourceful and say that if you're truly interested and want to be considered seriously, YOU need to find out. That's in your best interest. It's not unknowable.
  9. Because I had a random a-hole on my adcom who decided my ability to draw skeletons was soooo important to my field of study (it's not, but he's on the adcom so today he's right, and i'm right for adapting to his whim and doing it with a big stupid smile and pretending he wasn't completely wasting my time and energy on something completely baseless and ridiculous)
  10. Most who apply are not great. If that's not true, prove it.
  11. And acknowledging that puts you a few miles ahead of the rest of the pool.. want to apply to philosophy?
  12. Every program says they have great applicants and it's "very hard to decide." Dear lord, that you're buying that is again something that makes it clear why so many get rejected. And everyone knows letter writers tout "meh" applicants all the time. It's an accepted thing. Jesus, just how divorced from reality are you?
  13. Again.. how is submitting the paper that's older and not the "most" related to her work the better option? In what universe is that the rational course of action?
  14. That you can't figure that out is your problem.. I'm not here to get you into programs you obviously wont succeed in.
  15. Which is exactly what I said.. good is not best. There was someone better.
  16. I can go get an actual legit editor to tell what his intent was versus his fuzzy phrasing.. but wow.. that you've built up this whole mentality on that little misunderstand alone is.. wow.. yikes.
  17. Wow.. so this is all stemming from an inability to read and comprehend...? Cuz I just read that and it doesn't disagree at all with anything I've said.
  18. They determine, you discover what their criteria is. What you defined as "fit" was wrong. He did not fit, was not accepted. Logically you go back and see what he is.. and find out why he didn't fit.. but if you assume he fit, then you're right, you're never going to know what their fit is.
  19. So what if it turns out you're wrong..? Not that I am disagreeing.. if you think you're going to fail I'd up and let you if I was on the adcom.. it's not that hard to spot that personality type. Just food for thought.
  20. It's really not even that complicated.. See? See?!?! Not everyone is "the best" - I wonder what "fit" you all would have said he was perfect for..
  21. So.. what's your definition of the word "most" - because that's where I'm at a loss in understanding what you're seeing in that sentence that I'm not.
  22. You don't determine fit. The adcom does. Jeeze there's so much arrogance - "it's unknowable" oh but.. "we know this.." Make up your convoluted minds. Back to the skeleton: I didn't know about the skeleton bit. I was clever - I ASKED. I found out. I was even more clever and asked to be given a chance to show them my skeleton sketching abilities. If I had done nothing, not asked, not requested, not probed, not established a rapport with my admissions adviser.. why.. none of that would have happened and I would have likely been flat out rejected for my ignorance of the "skeleton criteria." But here we have a bunch of people assuming a bunch of things and saying it's all out of their hands in stead of even trying to do anything about it. Bunch of fatalist .. well, think consonance to finish that phrase. ("rhymes with mucktards"). They've tested no theories, attempted nothing, tried no other means.. just assumed.. assumed.. assumed.
  23. But saying my question isn't worth answering is entirely justified because.. reasons? No, it's about someone's passive aggressive behavior and I'm pointing out a probable cause for such behavior.
  24. But they do, because some get offered a spot and some dont.. and they go down a list ane make a cutoff, so some are better than others, making them the "best" of the group.
  25. But the person in question will not be one of them, hence the misplaced grief.
