I think I might just do that to see if that would work.

Thanks, I guess I will not be getting this place. I have other apartments I'm interested in though. Any tips on what else to look out for?
-
I saw an apartment I'd like to see, but the person I emailed requires that I answer a bunch of questions for "screening" purposes before I'm shown the place. He wants my last 4 digits of my ssn, driver's license number, and last 4 digits of my bank account. Is this normal?

What about dark slacks?

I have not gotten my money back yet for this purchase since it takes 60 days and I'm only on day 8. I think the only catch is that you get payed via Amazon payments for this one which isn't bad if you know you will be buying something from Amazon in the future (e.g. books).

If you ladies are looking for some good deals on shoes and don't mind waiting to receive your cashback on items. I would look at endless.com and use bing cashback to receive 40% off your order (40% cash back will be available after 60 days though). Then I would also find a place that sells it cheaper and have them price match it within 14 days of your order. It's a bit of work and you need to be patient, but I think that it is worth it in the end. I ordered $99.95 shoes and have $29.99 cash back waiting to be redeemed in 60 days. I also price matched to another site for $74.95 and was refunded $25. This was when there was only 30% cash back. I'm returning the shoes (free return shipping) for a size bigger and will be doing the same thing, but with 40% cash back instead.

I guess that means you'll be going to Banana Republic? http://www.stylelist.com/2010/07/07/mad-men-banana-republic-again/

Dappered.com has some good deals from time to time.

Try not to bank on being Hispanic to get you in. Apply thinking that it doesn't matter at all. I agree with UnlikelyGrad and I would shoot for something about 1200 to be least somewhat competitive. I'd grab the Barron's and Princeton Review GRE books for studying.

Wow, I didn't know any of that. I really am used to just paying the 9.75% sales tax.

You shouldn't have to make threads in multiple subsections. You will get responses and people generally get annoyed of duplicate threads posted in multiple sections. It's best to keep all replies in just one thread. I tend to ignore duplicate threads.

What areas of computer graphics interests you? Some schools are strong in certain areas, but lack in others. You don't want to go to a school that is particularly weaker in your area of interest.
-
I don't think they tax non-staple items, at least from what I can recall. I just don't pay attention to it anymore.
-
You have the sales tax a bit mixed up. It's actually just 9.75% (not 8) and there is no plus other tax. That is your tax on whatever you buy.

You should check out the outlet malls in the Bay Area. Gilroy Outlets (smells like garlic there), Great Mall (Milpitas), and there should be tons of stores in the SF and Berkeley area too. If you're looking for a laptop bag and considering a Timbuk2, they have a retail store in SF.

I'm not female, but this is what I would do if you don't want to wear winter boots the entire time. I would sport winter boots outside, but have a pair of shoes to switch to when I'm indoors. You should also have a place to put those winter boots.

Uniqlo is also a good cheap store (only phone orders if ordering "online").
-
Not invite only...unless you mean by giving your referral link so you can score $25 to use on the site.

If you're male, then you should check out dappered.com or gilt.com (also for females). Dappered is a good site for fashion tips and for deals on good fashion. Gilt is good for expensive fashion, but at discounted prices.

FYI: Free Amazon Prime Student Accounts with .edu address

I read on slickdeals that it lasts one year and they won't charge you to renew. -
I say you drop the unreliable one and find someone else to write it. I had an unreliable LOR and was screwed over my first year because he didn't submit the LOR. He apologized and said he'd write one for my second year, but in the end he was still just as unreliable and I was lucky to find another person to write me a LOR. I got into a good school, but was denied by my dream school because of a weak portfolio. I don't mind as much, but at least I was rejected because of my own doing and not because of a LOR.

So, where are all the new admits in their process?

I'm currently panicking because I feel very unprepared. I'm also trying to figure out things to buy before the move next month. -
When to start writing SoP
joro replied to SubjectNotebook's topic in Statement of Purpose, Personal History, Diversity
This is coming from my own experience. 1. I started writing my SOP the first week of July, then I finished some time in September I think (possibly October). Everything was submitted in November that I'm sure of. It's really up to you on how long you want to spend. I went through many drafts with at least 5 people proofreading the same draft until I arrived at something that everyone thought was great. 2. I decided to write the entire thing, then whittle it down to what I needed. I found that process to be easy. 3. Good luck! -
When someone quotes me I usually respond since it feels like they're talking to me.

I was referring to the Ghz as the cpu because it's difficult to explain to a person who has no background on computer hardware different things. I know the whole higher clock speed equals better performance thing too. I also never mentioned that higher clock speeds equal better performance, right? I come from a P4 and use an i7 really understand the difference between that notion. But it is older tech and I had to point that out. You're looking at an i5 (2 cores / 4 threads) vs core2duo (2 cores). I did mention that they wouldn't notice any kind difference with either option. You should probably take into account what the OP plans on doing. There is a significant difference depending on what you're doing and I don't think the OP plans on doing anything to really take notice of the difference. And you're telling the OP to buy their own parts for their Apple when they will most likely not know what to buy and how to install it. You need to figure out what kind of audience you're talking to. I know you have a CS background so these things all make sense to you, but not to those who are completely clueless about computers. Have you seen the youtube video of tech support helping a lady close a tab on Google to "stop the pac-man game" so she can study? I tried to keep things simple for her, it wasn't necessarily for the techie people out there. Here's a link to that video if you haven't seen it already:
