  1. Sure. I will save a place for you two. By the way, I will also travel to Ushuaia, the so called southernmost city in the world or the end of the world at the last week of March. If I do not like Mendoza, I might move there and live in solitude with penguins and glaciers. Dont know how many of you have heard of the German Development Agency (GIZ). it seems that their work is quite diverse, and most important, foreigners can also work for them. Hertie School of Governance has a very close link with them and they can secure paid internship or a professional year at the GIZ for their students. Now, Hertie sounds quite good to me as my dream job is to work at a place like GIZ. German beers and susages are an other big plus, of course. The Poor (ugly) but Sexy Berlin is also very attractive.
  2. Hey This information might not be useful for those who have already been admitted to Sciecnes Po. It might serve future applicants. It is true that admissible is not equivalent to admission and will also be turned down at the later stage. However, the admissible mail means more than that you had submitted all the papers. I got a reply from SciencesPo : You were sent an email yesterday confirming your pre-selection. You will now pass to the admission board who will announce a decision early March. Also besides admissible, there is Admis which means admission. I forgot where I read it. But for undergraduate application in 2012, the admissible rate is 4X% and the admis is 3X%. There was a difference of 10 percentage points. So now more waiting. At least I know they are going to inform me in March, the same time as IHEID and Oxford. I am going to Mendoza, Argentina, a wine producing region in early March. If I am rejected by these three schools, I will get very drunk and stay there forever to produce my own wines.
  3. After so much waiting, I got the admissible email. I understand that this does not mean an admission offer. But will a candidate be rejected even the candidate has received the admissible email ? Thanks
  4. hahah As you have said before, they usually inform rejected students first, I would prefer waiting 25 more days for the good news.
  5. just realized how quickly time has passed. 2 months ago, those applied at the early deadline were very eager to know the result. However we shared our disappointment. Now in less than a month (or two, depending on which school), finally, we will be notified. Not just IHEID but also other schools that you guys have applied to. Upon thinking that the results coming out in less than one month will definitely shape our future, I now feel anxious and really looking forward to it. All the best again. Everyone. And by the way Happy Chinese New Year.
  6. Good to see people back to the forum. It is always good to have different people here to share insights and opinion. My very first offer has come at last. MPP of Hertie School of Governance. Financial aid pending. Btw, the germans are very efficient. I got this offer within 7 working days. (Maybe because of the fact that not many people apply) I hope Sciences Po and IHEID could be as efficient as their german counterparts. I submitted my application to Sciences Po on 9th Jan. So I am not expecting to hear anything back before the end of Feb. Good luck everyone.
  7. hahah hey guys They have changed Admitted Students to Applicants. I am sure they must have at least received two millions emails asking the same question. http://graduateinstitute.ch/home/admissions/application/application-for-accommodation.html
  8. OK the thrill has ended. Lets go back to the one and a half month waiting.
  9. hey Go to IHEID facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/graduateinstitute Paola Eicher Dear Ashley, we have sent this link to all candidates. Should you wish to apply for housing, you can do so and obviously we will consider your application only once the admission decision is out. Best Paola Eicher
  10. Thanks for the information Curious_Grad. If those who applied for the January deadline also received the email, I dun think the email means anything at all. How could the admission committee process the applications of Janauary deadline and make offers within one week?? We need to find some applicants who did not receive this email.
  11. hahaha the housing email got us back to this forum again. I agree with alchyna. I dont think it means anything. But deep inside me I really hope that it is a good indicator though......... If we can find out some deferred students who did not receive this email, then we can start the party right away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Thanks Do you think it is possible to ask if they have admitted any MDev applicants in their coming online session?
  14. Thanks for the information. Do you have any information about that person's background ?
  15. Thanks for the information. I totally agree with you !!!!!
  16. I also want to know why. I think the name of the school matters, but it does not matter that much. I read this articule long time ago. I was also thinking.. oh shit I could speak six languages but i did not come from those fancy UK/US schools. But from the information that i gathered from stalking Linkedin, most of them do not come from fancy schools. Quite a lot of them come from schools not listed in major rankings. They mentioned it just to show OFF. Take a look at their annual report. They also boasted the number of professors who obtained their PhD from those fancy UK/US schools.
  17. I think acceptance rate of LSE and Oxbridge uses the same logic. They count the enrolment not the acceptance. The true rate of acceptance is usully way higher than that of enrolment
  18. http://graduateinstitute.ch/home/about-us/annualReport.html In 2012 , 1631 Candidates applied, 519 were accepted (32%) and only 292 enrolled (18%).
  19. They admitted 33% but only 18% attended. The annual report of IHEID has more information.
  20. I am not a Statistics expert. In this thread, we have people from all around the world. Each of us has a different professional and academic background. It is quite diverse. The admission rate is 33%. We are just related by this thread. So you can say the people here are pretty random. We do not know each other. Statistically, in such a random situation, is it possible that all of us were the worst 66% ?
  21. Please share your good news if you were admitted, Our Dear Netizens.
  22. or they haven't sent out the results to those successful candidates yet.
