  1. That sounds glorious and better than my method of standing over my tea kettle while brewing peppermint tea.
  2. Kamisha, if you can afford Lush you should throw some cash my way ;] My new weekly budget is $30 (excluding gas). Yay, piss-poor MA stipend!
  3. When I applied to MA programs, I was rejected once in May. I don't remember what the letter actually said, but in my memory it was something like this. "we don't want u lol sry it took so long to tell u"
  4. As an OSU alum, I will forever bleed scarlet and gray.
  5. Any New Mexico applicants around here? They started notifying around this time last year and it made me wonder if anyone knows what to expect.
  6. Good luck! I have a friend who got a Fulbright and he chalks a lot of it up to the fact that he was personable and rememberable in his interview more than he tried to prove how smart he is. That said, good luck! I'm sure you'll do brilliantly and have good news to share with all of us before too long.
  7. Ugh, you're the best. Thank you. I'm going to PM you now--I have a story/want your opinion.
  8. I'm so glad you had a good time! I wish I was coming too, but I'm glad someone who appreciates Ruth Evans is going haha! It all sounds amazing--you're right about the Medieval thing, that's why I have my fingers crossed for UNM right now! Is anyone else applying to New Mexico? I'm currently freaking out/fangirling over them.
  9. I agree with this bump. I've been accepted to a place that is good and where I think I would be happy, and I was excited for a while...until I realized that I had yet to hear back from eight places and then locked in on one of them that showed interest. Now, I feel like I won't be happy until I get into this new school. It's all very weird and kind of sad.
  10. Katia, tell us all about STL!
  11. Mead. Went on a mead tour in Denver and have been sold since. Beyond that, St. Germaine and cognac. I'm also eating a lot of meat and potatoes. Mmm...
  12. Ahh Pro, I meant to upvote you! Damn iPad screen!
  13. Oregon rejection was in the mail. Woo!
  14. I think I'm having a stroke. So overworked. "Mine should", rather.
  15. A friend just poked in my office and said he got his on Tuesday which means mine school be around here somewhere.
  16. Shit, my post delivered an hour ago. Should I leave my office and check? I think yes.
  17. Woo! It looks like things might be okay. We will see. I will update you all when I know more. Nervous/excited.
  18. GRE subject test score. I had signed up to take it, my grandmother died, I did not take it, and it was completely an oversight on my part that I did not take this school that required it off of my list, though I somehow managed to take all of the others off.
  19. So something horrible just happened. A DGS asked for a material that I do not physically have and could not physically have until months from now. I checked the website and it was required. I'm crushed. I would attend this school in a heartbeat and now it probably has no chance of happening. Crushed.
  20. I said "begun" instead of "began". It's just a yucky one since "begun" is so rarely used haha. I realize this isn't a huge deal, but I hate that I reread it and saw it haha.
  21. Thank you to both of you! I just needed to freak out to a sympathetic audience who is likely to read into things as much as I do--us English folk are good for that ;] I just went back and reread my SoP for that school and realized that there was a verb tense error in one paragraph. I am disgusted with myself.
  22. So something interesting just happened. I'm not going to say the university (because I'm paranoid) but I just received an email from a DGS notifying me that a letter and one other material had not been received. The letter wasn't a form letter, it was more like a casual email (for a second I thought it was spam). The part I found most interesting was that another person was CC'd on the email. After I replied, I looked up the email address and saw that it was the scholar I most wanted to work with from that university and who I mentioned in my statement of purpose. This school notified within this time period (2/20-2/22) last year and I'm wondering what the heck this even means--the school is definitely one my advisor and I considered a "reach" school. Anyone else have this happen? I know people get the "you're missing stuff, you dipshit" emails all the time...but has anyone had the scholar they want to work with copied on it? I'm probably reading into this too much, but don't tease me--I know I roll my eyes at posts like this. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for gold. I clearly have the Olympics on my mind.
  23. Davis, huh? I would be excited that you weren't rejected--there's still hope!
  24. That'll be the day! But if it happens, it should happen immediately.
  25. Bumping this back up. Are there any WSU acceptances around?
