Stanford has 2 interviews from the 3rd and 4th so far.....ugh....i dont know what to think. Stony Brook has sent out the first round of acceptances and rejections on the 31th....

yes thats the email i got , but i spoke with the director FIST and he told me that i was on a list of alternates and i said "so is this the wait list" and he said "thats the wait list"

I just found out that a letter had been sent to me on January 31......and i am really going to sleep by the mail box if i dont get it today.

i am with you....the wait list is like an extended admissions process....its not even a grantee if someone drops out!!! In your guys' opinion, how many people are on that wait list ? I mean.....knowing that they will take in 5-6 students, how many people do you think are waitlisted- 5 are on this site.....ugh...... Also, to get the anxiety cloud away from our little chat here,- what are you are your areas of interest? what concentration, region, periods, ect ?

yes the wait list does not work like that- in order...unfortunately its an admissions process alllllllllllllllll over again from the wait list

yes they did.....i am trying to stay positive and some days i wake up feeling that way and some days i wake up thinking that i stand noooo chance...especial when i start picking my little brain with little details like this..

well i asked my POI about decisions and he had ABSOLUTLY no info for me because he was not on the committee.....so they either talked to him before and now its up to them, or i had been imagining things....

I just realized that the professor i want to work with at the university is NOT on the admissions committee....i was invited to visit before they met, and my hopes were high, but now i realize that if hes not in power then its probably pointless to hope there....ugh.....anyone with a story like this that might have a good ending?

this is also my top choice. what is your topic by the way?

Thank you for the info rkg! I am really confused by their website about funding so .....thank you! If i may ask you- why did you choose to decline the offer? And xstopfloating, i think that generally, about 50% decline admissions- or course that would sound so much better if it was out of the 10-11 people they usually take rather than the 5-6 this time.....we are talking about 2-3 people opening up a spot here......based on average statistics ...ughhhh. Is this your top school choice?

congrats!!!! hahah. maybe we will be colleges ! I am just wondering,....how many people could the wait-list be ???? I AM HOPING its not like 50% of the original applicants are on that list Anyone know about or has been on wait lists before where they know. ??? I also talked to the director and he explained to me that this wait list is not in order. THe wait list is a pool of applicants from which they will accept how much ever spaces are freed from those that do not accept the offers. This year is just bad luck- they normally take up to 11 people and this year they are taking in only 5-6 people!!! so at least half of us on that wait list would have been in!!!!!

the more this process gets closer to when we start really getting answers (aka being bombarded at least once on a weekly basis), the more gray-ing hairs i am seeming to get....

hahahha dont be intimidated- you will not be finding out anything for a while if you are on that list, as he said that waitlist wont be touched until March...

Hi! , no i did not call the office, i emailed John Papadopoulos and just asked him when admission decisions will be made and how many students they expect to make offers to, and he told me that the first tier of students had been decided on, and notified. I was not one of them but i am on the wait list...to my question which place i am on the list, there was no answer

So...i just spoke to the director of the program and he informed me that i had wait listed. ....If any one who is accepted and wont attend, please let them know - i will be forever greatful

well i think the truth is ...we all only need one "yes" so.....lets just hope that all of us with less then ideal GRE scores get into at least one of those programs

I just wanted to start this post and ask everyone who has applied this year or before about this program. Any details , any news you have heard from the program like- how many applicants per year, how many people they take in - ect ect. I would love to talk about anything you guys want to.

so great...i have no chance ...but can you explain that part about the prof pulling the applications out before the GRE culling? ...how would that happen?

here is hoping we will be colleagues My GRE's are honestly idiotic. 1st GRE score: Q:610 V:490 and then 2nd: Q: 148 V: 158...if i could just have the Q from the first one and the V from the second one, it would be so much better . .....what about you. I am greatly concerned about my 'interview " too...dont worry. I did speak to the director at that program, and he did tell me that THE MOSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT important part of the wholeee application was the fit and showing that you understand the department and their goals. They apparently will only accept those they can fund

Thank you for your answer....i hope that is the case- arizona it does say that the average is the 90% percentile...but we were a really good fit so iam hoping they will go with my 78% . HAHAHHA the campus was HUGE, it was surrounded by a forest. it looked exactly like Bilkent university where i did my MA.

hahahha .....yes...you know know...i need JUST ONE program not to care
