  1. Did UW-Madison ever have an interview weekend?
  2. Got my rejection letter in the mail for the Education PhD yesterday. So, looks like the results should be out for everyone soon.
  3. Also note that Berkeley (at least for the programs I'm aware of) weighs the last 90 units of undergrad much more strongly, so that's in your favor!!
  4. Thanks for your reply! I just saw on the housing page "You do not need to be admitted to apply for housing." so you're right- it looks like it's just an option for applicants to get started early. Ohhh welll I'd still love to hear from anyone who interviewed at UT Austin for developmental or any areas of psych.
  5. I applied to UT Austin Developmental and haven't heard anything from them. I submitted my fafsa to all the schools I applied to, so I have a finaid tab on my UT Austin application status check page. Recently, however, a housing tab also popped up. I know it's SUPER naive and wishful thinking - especially because I never had an interview - but it's nice to think maybe somehow this means that I'm still in the running. Does anyone else have these tabs? Did anyone interview with UT Austin for developmental? I'm ready for the cold hard voice of reason to crush my dreams
  6. Hey everyone, I was accepted to the PhD in the Human Development and Education area at UC Berkeley. It was a bit of a surprise and I actually don't know that much about the program. I would be super grateful hear any advice/reviews/insights about the Education PhD program and funding at Berkeley. Thanks!
  7. Ironically, now I'm wondering if my status change means anything! I now have a housing tab! Granted, I did submit my fafsa, so who knows how I've influenced the system- but still! Actually, I'm totally bonkers because I applied to the psych PhD at Austin (Ed PhDs at other schools) and I haven't even been invited for an interview. So, it can't really mean anything. But still- wishful thinking :-)
  8. Hi all! I'm getting ready for my first interview this week with one of my top choices. I remember seeing a big list of interview questions a while back, but I can't seem to find it again when digging through the forums. Does anyone know a good comprehensive list of interview questions (either to answer or to ask)? Thanks!
  9. I think that it would be perfectly reasonable for you to leave early, especially if there were many other social events. I believe the advice on this thread is essentially saying that it's important for the other grad students and professors to get to know you. If you've already spent a bunch of social time with them, then those last couple hours shouldn't really matter. :-)
  10. Thanks for all the updates Sunshinegrl. Anyway I could just take a really long nap and wake up when decisions are posted?
  11. Everyone's situation is different, so if taking time off work is a really bad idea for you, don't do it. That said, many interviews include social activities because it gives professors and grad students a chance to get to know applicants' personalities and vice versa. It's all about gauging fit - you'll be spending a lot of time together and want to work well together! If possible, don't miss out on the opportunity to get to know each other. I think of it as another component of the interview.
  12. Yup, the ones I saw were posted on 1/21/13 and 1/24/13 and it looks like they were accepted shortly after. I'm also drawing on anecdotal evidence in that my POI's current grad students say that he would only take a student if he had had an informal interview with them first. But I'm also obsessively digging through/over-analyzing any information I have to get clues as to when we might hear back, so take what I say with a grain of salt. :-)
