  1. GOOD LUCK! I HOPE IT IS AN ACCEPTANCE!!!! Is it weird that people are finding out at all different times?
  2. Yeah but there's a difference between when daad funds and when Goethe institute holds courses. But it doesn't matter. They would have told you so I assume it has changed
  3. Are you allowed to go in April? Last year they said the first course option was June. Did they change it?
  4. What about you?
  5. I did Goethe Institut. I say April 16th because the last two years, it was April 16th and April 17th. I don't expect a change. I also don't know if they care if getting tickets is "tight" as we do get a stipend for it.
  6. My guess is we will hear April 16th.
  7. Yeah, the Fulbright Research to Germany would the best route (other than DAAD). But you should definitely see if there are dissertation fellowships that allow for travel (i.e. they give you $20K, but it doesn't state you NEED to stay at your university for the year. It is just earmarked for the dissertation work, so you could go abroad for a year and live off of that money. You'd still need to figure out how a visa would work if 90 days wouldn't be enough for the research). UCLA's GRAPES database (just google that) and Cornell's database provide a TON of external fellowship opportunities. Just make sure you aren't look at an internal or Uni of Cal based grant (most listings in the database are not restricted to UCLA or the Uni of Cal system).
  8. Agreed. There's usually a three week wait, but if that is the case it'll be far past "end of March or early April"
  9. Abreak, it looks like we may be here for a while. I checked my portal; still no change (though I'm now desperately hoping it'll go blank soon...)
  10. CONGRATS!!!!!
  11. I'm really hoping everyone hears today.
  12. What exactly are you looking for? Fulbright is great for study, research, or ETA. Austria has some ETA opportunities as well that are not Fulbright.
  13. I'm still not sure if the technical glitch would disqualify me...hopefully not. They recognized there was an issue.
  14. What makes you say that?
  15. I did send them an email and they told me to message via the portal.
  16. Ugh. This makes me kind of mad.
  17. I messaged in November via the portal about a technical issue and still haven't gotten a message regarding it.
  18. Good luck to everyone when the mayhem starts up again tomorrow!
  19. Oh, I don't for the language grant. I meant the one posted above. I've applied for other fellowships with 1% odds, so 8% seems glorious to me.
  20. I've actually applied for things with worse odds. Is it sad that this makes me happy?
  21. Wow. They must have changed it considerably. Before, I recall Bonn doing the selection (hence NYC not knowing when they would have results nor having access to the portal) and NYC notifying. Perhaps this year NYC selects, Bonn confirms, updates the portal, and that is the end of it?
  22. I emailed was told it was determined in Bonn ( they update the portal) but New York Emailed us last year after Bonn sent them the results. So who knows!
  23. I believe someone said earlier it is a holiday.
  24. What are you confused about regarding Daad?
  25. As I said before, someone previously mentioned it taking up to 7 business days to get the letter. You'll just have to be patient unfortunately.
