  1. Hmm. I haven't checked, but perhaps they meant to put "UCSD" rather than University of San Diego. Though, the Harvard admissions is highly suspect.
  2. Okay, so yesterday I had the following conversation: Me: It's gonna be pretty awesome being able to use the "Dr." prefix after I earn my phD. Girl in class: Yeah, me too. I am going to law school to get my J.D. (Good luck with that.)
  3. Oh no! More U of Washington Interviews have appeared on the results page.
  4. THIS. The other I hear that specifically relates to my field of study is: Person: "You are studying politics? I though you just said you didn't want to be a politician? Me:.. Person: Oh that field... *segues into criticing big government as a socialist nanny state or whines about them big mean conservative biggots.* Me: (Well aren't you some god***n expert...when will stop talking?)
  5. By the way, I am deathly afraid of phone interviews. I am just an awful phone person (cannot see the other person's facial expressions), I'd rather just text or meet in person. Can anyone describe a typical phone interview? How long they are? How informal/formal they are? I'd assume they will be most concerned with the applicant's demonstration of fitness for the program, or answering to the POI's reservations upon reading their application.
  6. Haha. Well, I think it's one of my longshot schools (maybe 25-40% odds), so I am not expecting to be accepted. However, it's nice to keep hope alive, and pehaps I have underestimated factors such as my "fit", SOP, LOR's, and writing sample. Though, my standardized test scores are very, "meh" or "middle of the road" for a top 30. Hopefully we both get in! G'luck!
  7. I would retake the one class I got a B. Then, I would retake the GRE, after taking formal classes. Finally, I would do an assistantship under my undergraduate advisor, and attempt to publish something. Hmm, maybe substitute teach on the side? All I know is that a poli sci BA isn't going to get me far; therefore, I would exhaust most efforts into becoming a stronger candidate. (Some of the programs I have applied will likely accept me and fully fund my education based of information gathered from the results page. Though, I don't want to be overly optimistic.)
  8. I was concerned about that U of Washington interview on the results page from the 13th (perhaps I was not included in the first wave). However, from the results history of the programs, it Is it normal for them to only interview one or two students within a week's span. They don't seem to schedule the interviews in distinct waves. A bit relieved.
  9. Quick question, aside from a few programs, do politcal science phd programs generally not invest in phone interviews?
  10. Wow. That's unbelievable. I am sure it will be worth it once you are accepted given your many publications and stats. For me: GRE prep materials: $40 (Couple of books) GRE: $185 (No repeats) GRE score reports: $225 (9 Score Reports) Application Fees: $550 Transcripts: $55 Grand total: $1055 Since the costs were spread out, it didn't seem like this much of an investment. Fingers crossed I recieve a good financial aid package!
  11. Thanks for letting me know! New to the site.
  12. Hey, I noticed that there was one spontaneous phone interview from University of Washington posted on the admissions results page, anyone else heard anything? (I probably need to stop being paranoid!)
  13. Now that the last of the political science program deadlines are approaching, we can expect admissions results as early as next week depending upon which programs you have applied to. This thread is for discussing the programs you have or will have applied to, correspondences you have had with these schools, admission results, and anything else poli sci students like to talk about to pass the time. Good luck everyone! (Unless we are applying to the same program )
