  1. Happy about acceptance or worry about no funding?

  2. aryt13, shutdown your computer, close your eyes, take a deep breath and just don't think about all this for a while. Once you are calm, you will realize that a rejection from Berkely or any school for that matter does not define what you are. It is NOT necessary that only the best get accepted. And if you ask why, i could simply say - life. And I am sure you are old enough to understand that. That said, the fact that you applied for the program to just get access to the lab for your personal cause might have been a big red flag. What you are doing is science, but it will always be YOUR science. And I think that could be a major problem for you. Just ask them politely on the weakness of your application and look to build upon it.
  3. 4 days??? Thats... well... scandalously fast!! Was it an acceptance or rejection?? Know the uni and program??
  4. GMAT is just one of many aspects that an MBA program will look into. Most prefer a few years of work experience, the more diverse, the better. From the way you have posted, I think you are thoroughly under prepared. Your GMAT score is also below the GMAC median!! That said, you can make up for a bad GMAT score with outstanding work ex, extra currics, and essays (if you have those). Considering that you are already late to the admissions process, I would suggest you to consider applying next year better prepared. Knowing which schools to apply is one of the signs of good preparation.
  5. I am busy getting sick... damn flu wont leave me for the whole week... :-/
  6. Was the decision positive or negative?? From what I understand, except for the odd one, the faster results are for those who didnt make it... But if u did hear admit decision, I am like WOW and congrats!
  7. Well the waiting is taking its toll and it made me wonder whether most people wait for weeks for a decision or are there some lucky peeps who say submitted their application on a Monday and got a decision on a Friday??
  8. Well... I love astrophysics... want to be an amateur astronomer... that said, history... military history excites me a lot. I also like the science behind... cooking?
  9. I am so happy... All you guys and gals make me feel so much better! Im from India and the parental pressure to marry by 30 is so effing huge!! And to think of it all my friends are already married and with kids... But I still want my masters degree and I don't want to give up!
  10. Guess I must qualify too. Im 30, still single and looking for my 2nd masters degree. Hold an Engineering degree and an MBA but now think it is time to really work with people, so looking at a HR masters. It was a big decision as my career also was going along fine, but realized this is the last chance to turn around and do stuff that excites me and make me happy. I might be interested in a Phd sometime down the line, but at this point a 2nd masters from a good school would be just perfect for me. As an international student, I guess I am still nervous about my decision to study again in a foreign country... but well if I didnt try, I wouldnt know.
  11. Let me rephrase it "Are previous contacts really good and necessary for funding or for TA/RA"??
  12. Hi, I am also applying to the program!! Good to know someone else is also interested in HR masters! My GRE is 324. TOEFL - 114. I am an international student and my GPA (CPA its called) is 6.54/10 in UG and 7.07/10 in my MBA. Add in about 4 years of experience as a Manager of Strategy posy MBA. Would love to hear from u!!
  13. Hi, I am looking to apply for masters programs focused on HR, this fall 2014. I already hold an MBA, and am a Manager of Strategy, for the last 4 years post my MBA. I think it is time I focused more on people than spreadsheets and business plans. Atleast thats my rationale behind my HR masters pursuit. I have chosen to apply to Cornell's MILR, Minnesota Univ and Illinois Univ. I understand these are top schools and that I need some safety schools too, but not sure what to choose - Rutgers looks fine but need 2 more out of Penn state, Univ of W.Virginia, Univ of SC, Texas A&M. Opinions appreciated. Oh and I would be an international student. GRE - 324. TOEFL - 114.
