I'm going to call Fordham and NYU. I can't wait any longer!
Edit:
Fordham says: You should hear by the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
NYU says: You'll hear sometime in mid to late March. Why so late, NYU? Because they've had a "backup" of applications. There's been "a lot of them." Cutting it a little close, my friends. Might it have something to do with your portal system always being down?
If they specifically asked, I don't think it's harmful to tell. But if they don't ask and don't want to know, don't go blabbing about it and expect them to automatically accomodate your requests.
I'm stress eating like a mofo, between admission stress and work stress.
I'm currently waiting for my philly cheese steak with a side of onion rings. Ohhhhh yeah.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Tulane has a shorter program, Penn costs more. No funding in either place. There are additional pros and cons, but I don't want to bore you all. Many say that it doesn't matter where you get an MSW from, however, I've heard from countless people that an ivy league education "opens more doors." How factual is that statement when it comes to getting a job?
Hard to make that rule of thumb work with private school or out of state tuition. And no substantial funding. Great plan for those with wonderful in state universities, not so much for the rest of us.
I wish I could be as calm as everyone else about this. I'm not getting financial help and I still have $18,000 in federal loans on top of the $150,000 or more I'll end up with after this masters. Even 120 payments is scaring the heck out of me. $600 (or more) a month is still almost double my car payments each month! I just can't wrap my head around all this.
Interesting how people who applied much later than I did have already been scheduled for interviews. It would be nice to hear something, one way or another! Oh, CUNY..
Edit: I put my parents' address on that application. It would be nice if they had told me I'd gotten mail! In other news, Hunter is my first rejection. Interestingly enough, it makes my decision easier since my father now can't complain that I chose not to go to school three blocks away from his house. Phew.
I applied in mid-November, and was notified via regular mail in mid-January that I had been accepted. In that letter, they told me that I was awarded a scholarship and how much it was worth.
Hope that helps.
I worked through college and my first masters degree, so this whole no work thing is FREAKING ME OUT. Especially with the price of living increase I'm about to endure when I move. Yikes.
I'm hoping I can do something on weekends for cash. Babysitting? Bar tending? Something?
I wouldn't do an unfunded PhD. That being said, I'm about to start my second unfunded masters. Such is life in the social sciences, though. Why not do the unfunded masters, raise your GPA, and apply for a funded PhD?
Haha, I wish I had free time to do things like work out.
I've been working as much overtime (also in a field completely unrelated) as I possibly can in order to get a few extra dimes in my bank account. Not being able to work for the next two years is a pretty scary thought.
As far as I know, nobody who's applied to my program has heard back from them yet. Hopefully we'll have some answers soon.
Congrats and enjoy your trip!
