  1. No, being nervous about all of this is natural. I mean grad school is a big step for all of us, and we're likely going up against the best and brightest. Many of us have little idea of what we're doing and not living up to expectations is a common fear. And that emotion can muddle the excitement and that is OKAY. It shows you truly value your position (a very envious one) and like everyone else, you want to do well. As for getting your offer rescinded: did passing those last classes involve blackmail or some kind of felony? If not, what you described seemed fine. I've heard of someone else on this board describe dropping a class late into the semester after having been accepted, and was told that would not affect that person's acceptance. But don't take my word for it, contact your respective DGS'es and ask. They'll probably be fine with it.
  2. Funny thing about moms. The only winning move is not to tell. That's what I'm doing
  3. I'm hoping absolute silence for at least a week as the last two results roll in. Unless they're acceptances, of course

  6. In this economy, I'm not sure that's a winning move either.
  7. Location: Can I stand living there for 4-6 years? What do I want to research? Does that University have professors there who research that? POI's: ask them about their research, try to contact them at all. prestige/rank, I guess? Do they accept international students? How readily? Do they have funding? And personally, if they ain't payin', I ain't goin'. I need funding to afford grad school

  16. I wanted to go to Hogwarts, but I missed the application deadline, and apparently I'm double the age cutoff. I'll wait until they open up a program with a higher cutoff, if muggle grad school doesn't work out.
