Depending on your specialty of interest, It is possible to do your PhD during residency.

I'm sorry, but if there are enough qualified domestic students to fill the slots then the school should be filling the slots with domestics. Wisconsin is a public university...if I were applying outside the us I would expect to be treated in the same manner.

I don't see any priority deadlines on their site. It's also a relatively small program. Either way, she said I'd know by today or tomorrow.

I highly recommend the SURF program as well. You'll get a lot of research done in a short amount of time and you will likely get a good recommendation letter out of it. Plus you get a bit of cash.

Haven't heard anything from anybody yet, but haven't seen any results posted either for most of my programs. Did get this email the other day from a program manager though, which was odd considering their app deadline isn't til Feb. 1st. Sounds good. I know adcom was supposed to review my application last week and I've seen that interview invites were sent out based on the results page. So not sure if it was to early to send out an e-mail or not, especially with the holidays approaching.

I already have all of that going, my letter writer's office is right next to my desk. The only problem is, he's grant writing like a mad man and travelling so the letter won't get out til tuesday when his assistant gets back. It just seemed odd that they said at my earliest convenience and that the committee wanted to see it and specifically asked that it come from my research supervisor. O well..grasping at straws I suppose.

Got an e-mail from OSU saying one of my letters was missing (their website says otherwise). Was worded a bit odd I think. Kind of interpreting this as good news possibly? Admissions committee met today and no interview invite...I see a couple people got one from the program on the results page. When do I start to worry?

How long does it take from "review session" to decision? For instance I know the first review session for one of my programs is today, when should I expect news?

I'd imagine it was just like the SAT. If you get a certain score you get invitations from some schools. The most bizarre one I got was from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia.

Are we talking matriculation numbers or acceptance numbers? Because those are two very different things...

I've heard that it's very program specific. Some programs see the interview as more of a formality and some take it seriously.

Sounds odd. Every program I applied to wanted electronic copies and if accepted they needed hard copies. I really wish there was some type of central application like there is for med school. It's way too much work to keep track of what every school needs and when they need it.

I just realized I didn't mention that I am a 1st gen college grad anywhere in my SOP or any apps. Is that a mistake?

Most likely, don't realize you submitted your other app. They probably have program that looks through applications that were open but not submitted. I'd call the admissions office.

My home institution can confirm. Cincy Children's is a great place.

If your application says incomplete at Case (BSTP), don't freak out. Apparently they were overwhelmed with the number of applications that were received. Admissions said it could take a day or two for the application to update!

That's a bit of relief. I wouldn't be flying in or out of a major airport so it doesn't make much since for me to fly anywhere. I'm leasing my car and would rather not drive it unless I have to.
