Really? Why?
I mean... the PGR seems to do an *okay* job of tracking good places for doing traditional LEMM philosophy, but outside of that it strikes me as very nearly useless.
I have word from a person at Mizzou that they've sent out their initial round of acceptances. I'd email the DGS to confirm if I hadn't already sent an inquiry to him last week.
I've solicited quite a few this year, and usually I just ask about my status, and then say something about needing more information so that I can rule out the possibility of needing to plan a visit as me and my wife are trying to figure out where we might be moving. I usually get prompt and helpful replies.
I emailed the DGS at FSU, basically just to try and confirm that I've been rejected, and he told me I'm "still in the running." Not really sure what that means. Guess we'll see.
I don't think one ought worry about sounding too greedy for information. It's useful information to have wrt an important life decision. Plus, we paid good money to apply! A little info seems like a very reasonable expectation
I was thinking about this precise sentiment a lot over the weekend. I've been admitted to two schools with world-class philosophers of biology and wait listed at a few others. I feel a little guilty sometimes for thinking my life is hard as a result of any of this. I should be more appreciative.
