Nope!  You need to go to the Government Affairs forum.

I saw "Texas A&M" in my new unread email this afternoon, and thought, dread. I know this program has yet to send out rejections, so I knew it was the day of reckoning.

Well, I was wrong, it was an acceptance letter. I just now read it another time just to be sure. I literally can't believe this. I'm not even happy or excited yet, I am just in disbelief since this was my top dream program, and I never thought I had a chance. (Okay, it's starting to sink it, and thus, the happiness and excitement!)

Looking forward to meeting everyone else who is  A&M-bound next Fall!

John Coltrane? Are you serious? the man makes the sax sing sweet mellifluous notes. Now if you're talking about his religious revival music, then perhaps yes, it needs to be better understood first before making a valuation, but My Favorite Things and Central Park West are so so sweet sounding for both the uninitiated and expert alike

Honestly, while you may have had good intention, you come off very patronizing to me, and not in a good way. Just because something worked for you doesn't mean it has to work for everyone else or that people who choose to do things differently are somehow inferior to you/your experience. I also hate all this age crap (it's been called reverse ageism). Why shouldn't some people be able to figure out what they want at an earlier age? And what about all those people that have kids when they're young/do an apprenticeship and basically have their paths figured out? You're kind of discounting everyone else's experience, and it almost comes off like you're trying to make yourself feel better, especially with your follow-up about how bad it is for you to be beat out by younger people.

I really hope it will be useful for someone here:
I have just declined a CU-Boulder offer, Theory subfield. They asked me to inform them of my decision as soon as I know for sure, so hopefully they will be making this offer to someone on the waitlist very soon.

I sincerely hope it means exciting news for someone.
I discovered, it is pretty heartbreaking to have to decline a program you are really excited about.

    Hey guys,

I know some people had some criticism of the utility of this page, and I agree to the extent that someone accepted to a school should take their time in deciding a school.

That said, if anyone has been accepted at Duke and has no interest in going with respect to having been accepted at other places or what have you, I'd appreciate it if you decline your offer to the DGS to open up space.

It'd open up space for others, namely myself, and would be doing me a solid to have a better crack at a school I'd like to attend.

I feel confident that such enquiries have never made any difference at all in admissions outcomes, if that helps

Quick question: as a DGS, what are your thoughts on emailing the DGS on when admissions decisions can be expected? I really want to know when I can expect a decision, but I don't want to be perceived as pushy or impatient.

I called--all decisions will be coming out today (rejections, waitlists, and (obviously) acceptances).
