  1. I will always recommend the ipad if you want to use it clinically because most of the applications haven't been converted to non apple formats. Other tablets are great if you just want it for note taking, reading, internet and popular games. But like I said, if you want to be using it clinically SLPs should stick with the iPad until more applications have been made universal for systems.
  2. I like my full size. If you want to use it with clients the mini doesn't have as many applications as the regular ipad.
  3. Hi guys, I figured it might be nice to start a thread for those of use who like to use our personal iPads in clinic and class. I need help finding a good note taking application that can take typed or stylus notes on powerpoints or just a blank document. It would be nice to find something compatible with Microsoft word. Also, something that works offline, otherwise google documents seems to be sufficient. I really like to take notes right on the PowerPoint slides when I hand write notes but haven't found an application that is easy to use. Also, for applications to use with clients I have a couple really good resources. I follow a Facebook page called "Technology in Education" that posts deals for apps, new apps and just some nice resources. Also, there's a website called appymall.com that has great sales and free apps for use in the clinic. Most of these are focused towards children though. Anyone else have any recommendations or ideas? Thanks!
  4. Hi there! Has anyone been accepted off a wait list yet? If so, where were you told you had been ranked on the list? Do you know if there is anything that can increase your chance of getting accepted off the wait list, regardless of ranking?
  5. BeautifulDay, is it a good program? Do students enjoy being there? Do they give you a chance to have an emphasis? They say they are research based but I couldn't find anything about any research labs that weren't just in the Ed department.
  6. Do schools ever give you funding based on how early you accept? Like can it be a first come first serve sort of thing?
  7. I should probably clarify it as University of Oregon. Thanks guys!
  8. Hi all. I applied to U of O's masters program for speech language pathology as my back up and it was the only school I got into... I don't actually know anything about the program. Can anyone tell me about it? Is it a good program, do they have any research around autism or children with disabilities? What is with the option of a medical or teaching externship (is that an externship with an SLP or is it student teaching?) Any info and insights you have would be great! Thanks!
  9. So I know I'm bombarding the forums... But I would really appreciate your guys' help on this... University of Oregon was the only school to accept me and they had been my back up. To the point that I really don't know anything about their program except for what is on their website. I have asked people around my campus but no one seems to know anything. I was hoping someone on here would have something to give me so I'm not completely clueless and so I can feel better about going into the program. Anything you know would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I'll even take anything you've been told from someone who asked someone who was told by someone else... etc. :]
  10. I don't think so... No one has said anything about not hearing back and although they claimed to be sending out acceptances in waves they sent them all out the same day... And I personally don't think it's very nice because it gives a lot of people false hope... then people have to play the waiting game even longer.. and that just sucks!
  11. So University of Oregon's masters program for speech-language pathology sent rejections out and here are a couple responses.. "You can't sit with us!!! -Oregon" and "Wasn't expecting to be rejected from here, and to add insult to injury the email only included was a file called "deny.pdf" I found this quite rude." They couldn't have named the pdf something a little nicer?
  12. Also, has anyone noticed that there haven't been any rejections for Portland State University. There has been speculation that they wait listed everyone who they didn't accept.. that would make a mighty long wait list. I'm wondering if anyone hasn't heard back from Portland State yet...
