melonseller got a reaction from hopehopehope in A week to go for April. 15
Well, I am kicked out the list of UConn.
It really sucked to wait this loooooooooooooooooong and to be rejected.
Hope I have better luck next year. And wish all the people still waiting to find out good news in the end. Cheers!

Thanks to the both of you.
It could mean that wait-listed applicants have yet to indicate whether they accept admissions to the school you're wait listed on. It could also mean that they are taking their time in determining which wait-listed applicants to take in. You're not out until they tell you. You still have hope.

I got in! Got the e-mail just right now. Yes! Good luck to everyone else. Definitely pulling for all of you.

Thank you, Mr. Scarf in the Wind.
I guess folks like me would have to wait after April 15. And maybe if there are still few spots left, I will have a chance.
I don't want to keep my hopes too high, but I really do hope I can get an admission.
It will be a lovely story that "unofficial waitlisters" still have chance, won't it?

I think the best choice is neither. Don't pay for graduate school.

I applied to UConn, had an interview, and was placed high on the waiting list. I suppose at this point it is a matter of just hoping enough people turn down offers this week.

melonseller reacted to victorydance in Stanford or Oxford? History Ph.D.
I would imagine the library at Oxford for historical texts would kick the living crap out of Stanford.

I'm pursuing an English Ph.D., and my professors all tell me this is COMPLETELY normal; it's called "imposter syndrome," and a good chunk of students feel this way. Because we can put a name on it, it makes me feel a lot better, like maybe they picked me AND YOU!!!! for a reason and everyone feels unworthy to some extent! Be proud of getting in and realize how normal these feelings are, as difficult as they are to deal with for both of us
