  1. if locals feel this way I don't know htf am I supposed to feel... I think I should've gone with applying to all 9 universities that I liked, and not just 3. spending some hundreds of dollars more on applications would be worth to start this year. FML.
  2. Of course they do, it's not an excuse, I was just stating the fact that people that can't get a good GRE score go to another country.
  3. I can't tell if it is a mistake, I think it might be. I showed my SOP to a few friends and coworkers, one of them just came back from his PhD and he said it was fine, but to be honest he's just a very relaxed guy. I am also waiting for UH, but since their application deadline is in a week I don't have to worry yet. I know it's a perfect fit for many people, I was just saying. I have small eyes, I might make them think I'm like 1/50 chinese or something lol. But seriously, maybe not many people apply from here and to that department, there isn't a lot of people in the industry that's good enough in english here, and the ones that do know english still battle with the GRE, I've met a couple of coworkers that went to Europe instead because they didn't get a good score in the GRE. They are great geoscientists, they are relatively good at english, but still prefer to go to a national Uni or to Europe because of the GRE.
  4. Oh man, I just hope to get in, it's the perfect fit for me for so many reasons. It makes sense but I guess it's like other Universities where they assign certain percentages of admissions for locals and undergrads from their school, another small bit for international and such.
  5. I know I made a big mistake in my SOP now that I've been in this forum for a couple of months, at the time I didn't think much of it but now... well, I hope it does not matter.
  6. You and me both. I think I'm going to start getting anxious again. Fortunately work has been really busy these days.
  7. Congratulations moochie! Do you mind me asking your stats?
  8. Oh man! one less spot for me to fill...... anyway congratulations to whoever it was, I hope to join him/her soon.
  9. Maybe for close acceptances.
  10. Thank you. Now to wait again and see if I make it.
  11. Mine was a MSc. the other ones I don't remember, up in the main menu you can go to search results and then look for what you're looking for. I've found that most of the results until now are for Geophysics programs.
  12. I really hope I'm chosen for one at UT austin. at least for skype, but I'm more than willing to ask for some days off at work to go to Austin or Houston (UH) for it.
  13. I think most of what I've see in the search results are in february and march, some in january and april. We've already got some acceptances and rejections by now. Someone got an interview at Stanford or something today.
  14. What kind of questions could a POI have about your application? other than perhaps your name or application id maybe.
  15. I didn't want to mention it since mine are not good either, but yeah. If I had known I'd have applied just for the heck of it.
  16. I did. First, because they told me to, second, I think at one point they have something to do with it. So yes, you should contact them.
  17. I just heard from them. Apparently the research group that aligns with my interests is full and probably won't admit many students this year. I suppose they are the only ones with the equipment and software necessary to do the job. Anyway, at least now I know it was not because of my credentials or at least they said so.
  18. Someone got into Princeton today.
  19. Already didm if they respond, good, if not well what can I do. Probably not met their standards or something, they have a low % of acceptance, so I'm not that surprised either
  20. No. It was just like a template letter you know, just change the name and that. I wrote them to know if they could explain the decision, I'm waiting for their answer.
  21. I was rejected from CSM. First one is a bad one, my hopes are low as hell.
  22. Welcome. You're applying to a all of the Universities I applied to and more. Maybe we'll see each other around if we get in those. Our GPA and GRE scores are similar, except for the AW one, yours is way better. Good luck!
  23. What are you talking about? you got 168 and 152, those are good, maybe a little low in the quantitative, but with all your other credentials I don't think it would matter
  24. I really hope they are just a small fraction and applying to other Universities so I can get in the ones I applied.
  25. I think you could get a good idea of the people that could get in viewing the search results, I'm glad when I see people with no that high GPA or GRE scores and got in, it gets me hopeful.
