That's rude. I've never gotten that sense. What's wrong with being happy that you got into a program? It's a huge accomplishment and nobody is rubbing it in anyone's face. We are all helping each other get through this difficult time. This is a very peculiar experience and it helps to have one's peers be there to help.
No, I don't think so. You *have to* commit to the program by April 15th, usually. And it would be wise to move to X city by late July or early August.
If you are asking whether or not you can work *while* doing the PhD, the answer is usually a no (not that you would want to).
Hope this helps.
I've never felt more anxious about anything in my life. Last semester I wrote my thesis and with my grad apps time went by very quickly. Granted, this semester has just started but it feels like I can't go on with my life until I get accepted somewhere. Anyone else have similar sentiments?
I know, things could be a lot worse!!
Depends, if you look at prior years it looks like responses begin right around this week. Real movement will start in about 10 days and peaking around mid February.
Absolutely take it again. You have a low GPA and low GRE, combined that is not a good thing. You may not be able to do anything about your GPA but your GRE is something you have control over, so raise it! Spend at least two months studying and make it your singular focus. Your score doesn't need to be in the top 10% but it needs to at least surpass a combined 300 (and that is still very low).
The schools say they don't have a minimum GRE but it is still a big factor.
