  1. Has anyone heard from McGill experimental psychology or Concordia clinical psychology...?
  2. Has anyone heard from Concordia clinical? On the website, it has been saying "status: POSTED" for a while, but I have no idea what that means...
  3. I've heard nothing from Concordia clinical! My interview day took place back in January.
  4. I have an even more confusing question, if anyone would like to try answering it. In terms of getting a professor position, would a clinical psychologist be preferred over an experimental psychologist? Assuming equal research productivity, would a clinical psychologist from a lower-ranked school have the "upper hand" or an experimental psychologist from a higher-ranked school? Edit: assuming both candidates do research in the field of mental health.
  5. Oops, apologies, I didn't address that clearly. Yes, I am interested in treating patients and improving therapy. I enjoy interpersonal interaction, and I want to help bridge research and practice. You're probably finding it strange why I had applied to both Experimental and Clinical. To be honest, I love clinical psychology and the breadth and flexibility it offers, but I didn't think I was competitive enough to get in. I also had no idea that many people apply to clinical multiple times, or after getting more experience after undergrad. But now that I have an admission to a clinical psych program, I'm slightly regretting not applying to clinical at my dream school (with my #1 POI), which brings me to my current situation!
  6. I caved in and called to ask. For those who are curious--it is not possible to switch applications at this point, since the decisions for the clinical program have been made. My research interests are definitely in the clinical area. Before applying, I was debating between clinical and experimental, but now, I've realized that I'm not satisfied with approaching clinical questions from only a researcher's point of view. I've become more sure of my preferences after going through several interviews and talking to faculty and students. I'm thinking about re-applying to the clinical stream next year, so I wondered if it was still possible to switch the program I applied to this year. Bad question, I know, but I would have regretted it forever if I didn't at least ask.
  7. I'm sorry to hear that. It hurt terribly for me at first, but after two days of intense brooding and relaxing for the rest of the week, I felt much better. Take some time to enjoy life with your friends and family! It's so easy for self-doubt and anxiety to take over during this time. I received a personalized rejection email, which I replied to after ~2 days asking for feedback. My email was largely based on this. I haven't gotten a reply though, but it didn't hurt to ask!
  8. Has anyone heard of switching an application from the experimental stream to the clinical stream? I originally planned on applying to clinical psychology at McGill, but none of the clinical faculty I was interested in were accepting. During my interview with my experimental psych POI, I was told that non-clinical faculty are also able to supervise clinical students. So, my question is, would it be a terrible/ridiculous/inappropriate idea to ask if it's possible to change my application to be for the clinical stream? I realize it's quite late, but this question keeps bugging me! Thanks.
  9. Question for the person who posted the unofficial acceptance to Windsor child clinical psychology: congratulations!! were you invited to an Open House Day, after which the admission decision will be finalized?
  10. Thanks for letting me know! I applied to the Adult Clinical stream (I can't edit my post anymore). My POI told me the faculty met on the 2nd, but it's been all silence since then...!
  11. Has anyone heard from Windsor or Concordia clinical psychology? I know the Windsor faculty met on Feb 2, and Concordia's interview took place back in January. Just wondering when I should expect to hear back! :s Waiting anxiety is quite epic. [Edit]: Does anyone know if Ottawa experimental psychology conducts interviews?
  12. I've emailed for feedback, hopefully I will get some constructive criticism!
  13. Aw, thank you so much for the encouragement! My rational mind understands that one school's decision has no bearing on the other schools... but my irrational mind is still reigning strong! I know it'll get better with time, though. Kind of a random question, but did you ask for feedback after your interview?
  14. Hello guys! I'm a first-time Canadian applicant to graduate studies in clinical psychology and experimental psychology. I got my first admission decision and unfortunately, it was a post-interview rejection. My irrational mind is having a field day with the information and is telling me that I will get in nowhere... But I won't hear back from the other schools for until at least the end of February! I think I'm not alone in feeling this lack of logic and sanity. And, as prospective psych grad students, we know how helpful social support is, right? Anybody in the same boat and would like to talk about it? (Edit: if anyone would like to PM me to talk about anything, please please do so! )
  15. I think it's okay to email your POI to ask about the reason for rejection, as long as you do it professionally. I'm planning on doing that myself today or tomorrow. It feels awkward and I'd rather not think about the post-interview rejection anymore, but I want to learn from my failures more than I am scared! Let's do this!
