"Between" on math questions (inclusive or exclusive?)
Hani2015 replied to velua's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
between = exclusive. ( unless stated in the question is inclusive ) the answer to your example is ({21, 28}) -
you know what. I booked with this center for the first time because I could not find available place in other centers. after I finished the test. someone called me and he was talking to me in a strange way. he works in the center and said to me I'm the manager here. he took a paper from his desk and said to me look at this GRE scores. he insisted that this guy is very smart. it was 160 on Q and 168 On V. I felt like he was trying to offer me that this guy will do the test instead of me. I said to him the Q the same as my result and the verbal is 151 which I'm happy with.( I'm international student and my major is Engineering)

I took the GRE test on 01/19/2015. I was waiting the results to be published online after 13 days. but it did take more 17 days which was unusual for me. then I went to check it online, it said the test was canceled. anyone have any idea what does that mean?

I can't wait anymore. Applied to 7 universities. no single word from any of them . getting 7 rejections together will be extremely disappointing.
-
I will try to accept all qualified applicants.

good luck all guys and a BIG welcome from Saudi Arabia to those who got admitted. KAUST is in a small town but u will like it and Jeddah is just 70 Km away. I can guarantee that you like everything there except the weather in the summer
-
do not contact anyone. wait until they tell you your application status.
-
do not worry. GRE is not everything. Look at the stats of students who got admitted. I was surprised that many students who have very high GRE scores got rejected and those with low GRE scores got admitted.

I have 6 letter of recommendations. I submitted 6 for USC because the system allow me to submit up to 6. UCLA, up to 4. so I submitted 4. Also in the requirements they said " minimum 3 " not " only 3 " if there is someone will be rejected due to many recommendations, it is sure me. but you submitted 3. that's at all not " too Many "

I think that's right. but why programs do that. they should review all applications together and see which application is better.
-
does that also mean you were on informal wait-list? I have heard that some schools do not announce a wait-list because they got annoyed by wait-listed applicants.
-
in my case, they do not send rejections first because I saw in this website acceptances and rejections. I do not know. sometimes I say why I have not been rejected so far if the rejection is my fate. that's give a tiny hope.

I have seen some students got rejected saying: " I expected a rejection after waiting for so long. " is that true? I applied for UCLA, Phd. In the department I applied for, in Feb, I saw some got accepted and some got rejected. non of them in the same track I applied for, except one, but he got rejected. I contacted the department, they said to me: your application is still under review .

the same situation. I saw some students got accepted and other rejected in the college i applied for but non of them in the same track I applied for. only one student got rejected ( he applied for the same track I applied for, no accepted student ) his math GRE score is 170( I saw my rejection here ) i contact the college, they said to me if you did not get any email it means your application still under review .

What you think the adcoms are saying about your application
Hani2015 replied to DeWinter's topic in Waiting it Out
" he is so confident to apply for our program " " he is just wasting our time " " and look prof. he has no research experience at all " " I think we should send him with the rejection letter all our applicants profiles to let him know the he is the worst application we have ever had " " but he has a full external funding " " his master GPA is high " " good work experience " " and he has a reasonable GRE and IELTS scores " " good letters of recommendation" " ok I guess we should leave this terrible application to the dean to see what he will do " " by the way: do not forget that he is from a country has nothing with research " the dean : taking everything into account " this guy is admitted " face of professor after he knows that I'm admitted : " what ever u decide: he will not be one of my students" The dean: let see what he will do in courses then we will assign him an adviser" Always I'm not the best but by luck I take the place of the best honestly, I do not like the phrase " take the place of best " because it is not fair but they will find for me a place. -
does external funding increase my chances of admission?
Hani2015 replied to Hani2015's topic in Waiting it Out
I saw some students admitted without funding in the same college I applied for. so the truth is that not all schools have enough funding. -
"Soft rejections?" (still haven't heard anything)
Hani2015 replied to dragonage's topic in Waiting it Out
That's make a sense. I guess I'm on an informal waitlist at UCLA. They sent some acceptences and some rejections. But i have not heard anything so far. -

what is the point in that? I saw some universities sent acceptances and rejections come in waves.
