  1. I just asked NYU if they could extend mine because I wanted to see the full financial aid package after they receive my FAFSA. The original deadline was around the end of the month/early March but they extended it by a week for me.
  2. Thank you!!! It's a good start but glad to know that I could get more help... NYU is my top choice, but I'd hate to not be able to attend if the cost is absolutely outrageous. I'm already planning on living with relatives so save costs.
  3. Just got an email saying that I was awarded a one year "tuition scholarship/award" of $8000. Looks like this doesn't count federal aid/loans/etc.? I'm going to clarify with NYU.
  4. This is super helpful. Thank you! They told me I should hear back in February, and I didn't apply until after the priority deadline, so I'll probably hear around the same time.
  5. On Albert? I'm on it and it just checks off everything I've submitted and on the top now it says "admission offer."
  6. Thank you! I sent them an email this morning, but honestly I think I'm going to call them during lunch today to get a faster response. And yes, they sent the email at 9:30 PM last night. Not sure if someone is just working early/late or if it's an automated response?
  7. Hey nymsw, may I ask if you got your financial aid info back? I know I'll need to submit my FAFSA (which I have), but did you need to do anything else?
  8. First acceptance was at work just before my lunch break. The second was at home around 9 PM. Honestly thought it was going to be another spam email from some online store but nope! I saw "silver admissions" and had a minor panic attack before I saw the good news
  9. Just got my acceptance for NYU's 2 year program! Honestly didn't think I had the experience or the GPA to make this happen. Haven't received my scholarship info yet, but hopefully they will soon!
  10. Got my acceptance last night! Honestly can't say how happy I am, they were my top choice. If it helps, my last name starts with an M, so the likelihood of it running by last name is unlikely, I would think. Honestly it probably is random.
  11. Just got my acceptance from NYU last night! Barring a complete catastrophe of financial aid, since they were my first choice, I will most likely attend
  12. I caught typos in two of my applications. One of them still interviewed me, and still waiting for a response on the other. Somehow, despite checking my NYU application what seems like dozens of times, I failed to write the correct year I got my undergrad degree (wrote 2015, not 2014) and it said it was "in progress." Had to email that to them, although I submitted my transcript so they should know that it was an error. But still pretty sad that I failed to fix that.
  13. Honestly think it depends on the person. I have a friend who only wants to focus on her education/research and thus is happy to move anywhere. She sees the good of every location, whether it's NYC or Kentucky. I, on the other hand, have realized after doing my undergrad in Philadelphia and visiting my suburb during breaks that I absolutely couldn't live in a more rural area. I feel stifled by the lack of activity. I would say do what your heart is telling you- but do also weigh in how good the education will be.
  14. That's so helpful Opt! Thank you! Does anyone know why the deadline was extended? I'm happy it did for those who couldn't submit applications by the deadline (it's so early), but when I went to the info session, they did put in emphasis on the priority deadline (December 1) and then the regular deadline (January 4). Perhaps they wanted to give more people opportunities to apply?
  15. I applied mid December so this wait is killing me. Hopefully we all hear back soon!
  16. Hey mn, I just asked them if I could request more time. I basically told them that I needed more time to think about the financial aid and that I wanted to visit the school with an official tour, but would not be able to do that until the original deadline passed. They gave me an extra 4 weeks, which should be enough time to hear back from others/decide if Fordham is right for me. Hope that helps!
  17. Hey Unimpressed, Great news, they gave me an extensions after I asked and I took your advice to not ask other schools to give a faster decision. Thank you!
  18. Hey ZP, I had the same issue with Fordham. I love their program, but want to make sure that I make the decision for myself. They are super kind and understanding and gave me the extension for the 2-year full time program after I told them my situation. Good luck!
  19. Thanks! Yeah, I figure it might be a little disrespectful to request them to hurry up... I'm sure they have plenty of applications to go through. Hopefully they'll get back to me soon about the extension.
  20. I don't think we need an interview for the standard 2-year unless we're international students. I'm not sure about other programs. I did just email Columbia today and they said they're aiming to send out some acceptances around mid-February!
  21. I originally applied for grad school (some masters, some PhD) as a senior in college and I am extremely glad that I didn't pursue it (the grad schools all rejecting me also helped...). I probably would've felt overwhelmed/end up dropping. There's a lot of maturing that you get in the real world as well as job experience. You may also be able to truly pinpoint what you want to pursue. For me, I applied because I *thought* I wanted to become a professor/because I thought I had to/because my parents thought I should. Which are all terrible ideas. Taking time off will give you perspective on what you want, especially if you're not 100% sure or if you're already ambivalent. The grad programs are investing money in you, and they won't want someone who may drop out when they realize that graduate school isn't what they want.
  22. Thank you! I've sent Stephen a few questions before, so I'll definitely shoot him another email. But thank you again!
  23. Thanks! It really was, I'm pretty shocked by the turnaround.
