  1. Attending University of Missouri. Anyone can PM me. :-) AOI are metaethics, action theory, philosophy of religion, and Kierkegaard.
  2. Accepted PhD offer at University of Missouri. Full funding for 5 years, plus an extra 5k a year for a university research fellowship, and an annual fee waiver. Not my top choice, for sure. But I was waitlisted at 6 schools and none of them gave me a green light, so I will take what I can get.
  3. Congrats! What will your focus be?
  4. Wow, really? Yeah Notre Dame is a great place, especially if you're doing phil. of math or religion. Congrats on your success!
  5. I've been told by all the schools I'm still waiting on that it will come down to the 15th. I got more insider info on Notre Dame - apparently 2 have accepted, and there are six open spots left. There are also 6 offers out that have not been responded to. If all of them accept, then obviously none of us off the waitlist will be admitted. Not sure if anyone else on here is curious about ND. Hoping someone turns down their offer soon. :-/ University of Virginia sent out an email a few days ago making it sound like things would be wrapping up there soon, but I haven't heard anything since then, so who knows. And I've pretty much decided UWisc Madison isn't happening, considering like 10% of the earth's population is on their waitlist. These last two days require lots of wine.
  6. Re: OSU. Thaaaaaaaat sucks. How'd you find that out? I got an email about a week ago saying I was still being considered, but it seems like you've been communicating with them?
  7. Still waitlisted at UVA, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and UWMadison. :-(
  8. Related question- I'm waitlisted at Ohio State and at Notre Dame, so I'm trying to decide which I would pick (if a miracle happens and I get in to both.) Notre Dame ranks better on the PGR than OSU (ND is 17, I think, and OSU is 28.) However, OSU has far larger group of people doing metaethics (what I want to study.) Notre Dame is very sparse with ethics people. I'm not sure what to do in this situation... advice?
  9. Thanks everyone. That's sort of what I'm leaning toward, I guess. Fingers still crossed for one of the waitlists, but I think I've made my peace with Missouri, if need be.
  10. That's fantastic. Thanks!
  11. Looking for advice. So far I've been accepted to only 1 school, University of Missouri. I'm waitlisted at Notre Dame, Ohio State, UWisc Madison, and UVA, but I obviously don't know if any of those will come through. I have a large amount of funding if I decide to go to Missouri (normal stipend plus University scholarship plus waved annual fees). My question is, is it worth it to spend 5+ years at Missouri, or not? It's ranked 50 on the Top 50 list, so kind of dangling right on the edge of "Whoa, don't ruin your life." I know two people who have gotten their PhD there, and one of them is doing a postdoc at Rutgers and one just got a teaching stint at KSU. So placement could be worse, and the town and school are beautiful and inviting, but... I don't know. What would you guys do if Missouri was your only choice?
  12. Well, I got an email today saying they closed the waitlist. :-( Any luck?
  13. No idea about size of waitlist, but I did just get an email today from Lisa Downing saying that she thinks they are definitely going to be dipping into the waitlist pool. So, there's something. I see you were also accepted at Missouri, so we might end up at the same place. :-D My AOI are metaethics/moral philosophy/value theory, and philosophy of religion. OSU has a fantastic Phil of Science program, which I see is one of your interests.
  14. Anyone have any information on Ohio State? I've gotten lots of helpful information here from people talking about UWMadison, ND, and UNC, but nothing about OSU, where I am also waitlisted. I have no idea how many people they usually admit/waitlist... was wondering if anyone had a scoop on that one?
