Rejected with 15.2, committee 1. I know someone who got it in the same committee with 15.54

Here's a funny story that my professor told me during my MA. She said that her colleague, another professor at the university, was struggling to find a job in academia after she finished her PhD at a prestigious university. She couldn't figure out what was wrong - she kept having interviews that seemed to go well but she would never get that final offer. She normally wore makeup, had long hair, and was very fashionable. However, one day, just to test out whether or not it was her appearance that was the problem, she decided to wear an oversized knit sweater, thick-rimmed glasses (she doesn't normally wear glasses), no makeup, and hair in a tight bun. And guess what happened? She got the job... right away. Here's a perfect example for you about the way academia views female professors. While a fancy corporate job requires women to wear heals and makeup, academia requires the exact opposite of them.

After a great visit with students and faculty yesterday, and a funding offer last week, I've officially accepted an MA/PhD spot at UMass Amherst! I'm so excited -- the rhet/comp community is just the kind of thing that I'm looking for, the faculty are really nice, and they just moved out of a crappy old building into a snazzy new one. Now to actually be a graduate student!

Thanks so much, everyone, for your help through this whole hulabaloo. It's been a long, strange trip, but the reassurance and the advice I found here was invaluable.

I've also accepted my offer from Berkeley! Super excited about the program—it really felt right during the visit.
@imogenshakes Glad to see you accepted the offer from Davis! You might have to take the train down to Berkeley for a seminar

Now that all my visits are finally over, UC Berkeley is the winner! Couldn't be happier about it, especially since everything I saw at the visit was extremely positive and welcoming.

I accepted my offer from University of Toronto! My application season had a rather rocky start, so I'm thrilled that I'll be attending a strong and exciting program that has proven to be a great fit for me.

Just accepted a PhD offer from the University of Wisconsin-Madison!  Thrilled to be done with the decision making process at last, and even more excited to start graduate studies there in the fall. Time to start looking for apartments and to go shopping for an actual winter wardrobe!!

I accepted my offer from UC Davis yesterday! I'm so excited and relieved. Much of the decision had to do with the area itself (better for me and my partner, easier for him to find a job) and funding (I found out recently that I actually have six years of funding there, which I didn't get anywhere else). Now onto the practicalities!

I just emailed the MA program at UBC with my official acceptance! I'm so excited! Honestly, my final decision happened yesterday when I read a course description on their website yesterday and it was so exciting and perfect for my research interests that I audibly gasped.

Abyss21 reacted to profhopes in Charges of Ohio University Ignoring English Professor's Harrasment of Female Grad Students (Prof. Andrew Escobedo)
https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2017/03/20/suit-alleges-ohio-u-sat-complaints-professors-sexual-misconduct-decade?utm_content=bufferba9dc&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=IHEbuffer (This is a link to more info from Inside Higher Ed about the charges being brought against the alleged harasser- Prof. Andrew Escobedo.)
https://www.ohio.edu/cas/about/directories/profiles.cfm?profile=escobedo (This is a link to his profile on the OU site.)
I would encourage grad students, particularly female grad students, to be wary of OU's English department in light of these allegations.  It looks like he is in the process of being fired, as the Inside Higher Ed article states: "Ohio has already moved to fire the tenured full professor and says its processes ensure that all complaints are 'investigated thoroughly and handled appropriately.'"  Nonetheless, a department that would allow this type of alleged conduct to go on for a decade is one to be leery of.  (I highly doubt they would be in the process of firing him had the allegations been found to be untrue in the subsequent investigation.)

As someone not only on the other side of the process but also on the other side of a degree, I want to say that grad school was absolutely the most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life. I loved getting my PhD. And the farther along I got in my degree, the more I actually enjoyed grad school. (Most people who gripe talk about really enjoying coursework and hating their dissertation--I was the exact opposite.)
Grad school is definitely not for everyone, but I also got annoyed by people who were constant Debbie Downers about the entire thing. For me it was really worth it, no regrets. Even though I haven't gotten a TT job yet, I still don't regret it. Seriously just ignore those people.

Possible silver lining: many of my professors/advisors have told me that they prefer--and many people they know on other admissions committees prefer--for graduate students to have taken at least a year off at some point. They think that students who have some time 'off' are less likely to get burnt out and are more likely to complete their dissertations than students who go straight from BA to MA to PhD. My professors also explained that it was beneficial for them to take time off, and they highly recommended I do the same (I'm trying my best not to, but that's another story). So, even though it's painful now, you may become a better graduate student and scholar in the long run because of what seems right now like a setback. Don't give up. I'm sure that you're well-qualified and would be extremely successful in an MA or PhD program, and after taking a few months to refine your application materials, I'm sure admissions committees will agree.

Just got off the phone with the DGS at Syracuse University. I've been accepted to their fully funded MA Program as one of their top choices!

I can't believe that I have the good fortune to choose between 3 R1 programs. Everything is unreal.

Thanks @ThePomoHipster!   I figured it must have been the whole GSAS, otherwise it'd be crazy! Guess that's one way in which you can't take a rejection too personally! (Looks like you got into 2 great schools though - congrats!)

Hopefully I can clarify some things. This is what my rejection letter from Yale said:
Thank you very much for applying to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Yale University. I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission. As you know, the very high number of extraordinary candidates among our more than 10,700 applicants far exceeds the number of places we have in each program, so we are not able to admit many excellent candidates.

I look forward to seeing you on visitor's day. Also, I currently live in Toronto and have lived in the area most of my life, so if you have any questions about the city, feel free to PM me.

As a fellow Vancouverite, I can only imagine that the most difficult adjustment will be finding yourself surrounded by people that actually like, if not love the Maple Leafs. I'm not sure that's a world I'd be ready to live in, personally.

YES!!!!! Congratulations on your decision! And I'm 95% sure we'll be cohort-mates, as I anticipate making my decision just after the visit day. Very much looking forward to meeting you! Thanks, too, for the offer to answer questions re: Toronto — as a Vancouverite, Toronto is a huge mystery to me, so I will almost surely be taking you up on that/pestering you with questions in the coming months.
