I wish you luck as well! Illinois State rejected me today (first one though!) so hoping for some more good news soon! Definitely was not my top choice anyways, so that's okay with me! Just hoping to hear from the rest soon.
-
So I'm sure this is also an old forum, but I figured starting a new one would be good. I've seen forums for other regions, but just thought I'd start one for people applying in the Midwest! My signature has where I'm applying, but all eight of my schools are in the Midwest. Trying to see if anybody has similar schools to me! How is the process going for you guys? I'm still waiting to hear from Bowling Green, Illinois State, Michigan State, UW Milwaukee, and UW Whitewater!
-
Yay! I'm glad that your application got straightened out! Guess we'll be waiting until April 15th!
-
SO excited for you!!! I love it here! Hope I hear back soon too!
-
Ahhh me too! Hopefully we hear something good! The portal is always a pain to navigate on my laptop too. I hope they email us as well within the next day or two!

Illinois State? Because same

Anyone else still waiting on first acceptance?

I'm in the same boat! Two wait lists and an interview. Still waiting for five schools though, which hopefully I will be hearing from soon! This waiting game is brutal. Hoping for some good news for us soon! -
I'm sure that's what it is! Never hurts to call though and make sure! Either way it does for sure say you did both, so I would definitely call and straighten it away to alleviate the anxiety. Also keep checking your mail just in case something happened!
-
I would definitely try to call them again tomorrow. It doesn't hurt to ask! I would hope they give you a chance if you have that proof... your CSDCAS was right too, so you did everything you were supposed to so I don't know what else you could do besides try and plead your case. I don't get how they can even mix that up but it sounds like with what you're saying you have a legitimate chance! Especially because you have called them before and talked about it. It is early in the process, so better now to try than just forget about it! I just got my letter today so decisions must just be happening. I don't get how it works though when people got theirs well before me but I didn't get rejected? I thought for sure I was rejected first round. You never know!
-
That's a good idea! If you are taking prereqs from them, and your CSDCAS was filled out correctly for the on campus application, they should fairly look at you for the right application I would think. I don't know how CSDCAS works or how schools get applications, but wouldn't it separate if you did everything correctly? Better to notify them now than never! It could have been their mistake, otherwise they are sending letters in waves. I'm new to this process so I'm not really sure how it works! Hopefully it works out! Whenever I got in contact with Eau Claire they were very nice and accommodating. I had transcript issues from my high school college credits, and mine arrived a couple of weeks past the January 1 deadline and they were very nice about it. Hope it works out for you!
-
I thought the exact same thing! I saw people had found things out, but my letter from UW Eau Claire did not send to my college house... it sent to my permanent home address today! People got their letters so much earlier than me...I'm not sure why this happened, but maybe that happened to you? Do you commute or live on your campus? UW Stevens Point also told me I was supposed to get a post in the mail last week with a form to fill out, but I didn't get it until today.... maybe the post is just slow? Hopefully you hear some good news! I just got my letter today and it was a waitlist, not a rejection, so maybe yours is on the way I also am yet to receive a straight up acceptance, so this whole process is nerve wracking! Hopefully some good vibes come our way!

Ughhh yes! I still am waiting to hear from six schools, so every email is a heart attack! I hope we all hear good news soon

Got an invitation to interview at GVSU! Hoping to hear from the rest of my schools soon!

Official Fall 2016 Interview Thread
koalalover1 replied to OverCaffeinated's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Just got invited to interview at Grand Valley State in Michigan! I'm actually really surprised! I'm sure this is a thread already, but if anybody has tips or insight please send it my way! -
I actually applied to five of your schools! Grand Valley State, Illinois State, UW Milwaukee, UW Stevens Point, UW Whitewater!
-
I also just got waitlisted at UW Stevens Point! No clue on how many people are on the waitlist or anything, but I'll take it over a flat out no from the first school I heard back from! Hope they have some room for us!

What are my chances of being accepted?
koalalover1 replied to HopefulFutureSLP2016's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I am applying to two of the same programs as you (Bowling Green and Grand Valley State) and six others. I wanted to reply too because I feel like I am in a similar boat to you! I may have commented to you before so sorry if I have, but it's been a while so I can't remember! Just reading your signature to me even showed you have great extra curricular that will definitely help! It is also good that you expanded your horizons and applied all over, instead of really focusing on one area. I myself do not have stellar GPA and GRE scores, but if it's something you really want to do, all you can do is try, right? Why give up when your fate is completely unknown right now? You have the requirements to apply, so I don't see why you wouldn't try your first cycle. There is a positive way to look at yourself, and sometimes reading these forums stresses me out, but they do help! We are all busy and we all do things in our lives that may not result in getting stellar grades and GRES, but that doesn't make us bad people or people who are not worthy of trying to become an SLP. I appreciate posts like this to see that SLP is a profession that no matter how much it seems like the odds are against us, we do not give up. I agree that GREs should not tell a professor how smart we are or how successful we'll be. Also I understand that the things we are busy with add up! Work and extra curricular are necessary for so many people trying to afford college, and what you have on your experience section in your signature looks great! I used to be on a sport at my university, which took up more time than I ever thought one thing could. I wanted to work on top of that, and it was just too much. Now I work and do research and go to school. I think if schools can see that you used your time to be working to pay for school and doing extra curricular activities that could make you a successful clinician in the field, you should have a chance at the schools you applied to. Your involvement in your sorority is huge, too! Now I don't know all the numbers, but what you have to offer certainly does not make you not entitled to try and I'm glad you see that! Best of luck to you! -
Just two quick questions that may be easy to answer for people who have already gone through the application process about Spring 2016 transcripts! I applied for Fall of 2016. I'm sure this has been asked before but I did not scroll through all the forums on here! 1. Do schools want your Spring 2016 transcripts, even if you send them after a program accepts you? 2. When you look at ASHA's GPA averages, or GPA averages of accepted applicants on their websites, are those numbers from before or after Spring grades are added? I am just curious where my numbers fall! Thanks!

Why is my CSDCAS Cummulative GPA drastically low?
koalalover1 replied to Hope2bSLP's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Yeah, it's a real bummer! I took these classes before I knew what I even wanted to do (I wanted to be a teacher at that time but I wasn't sure), so I aimed for B's (they were college credit calculus and chemistry, and I got a B in both) but I got A's in my other ones I took! And all we needed to do to get the credit was get a C in the class because we paid for it, and it was supposed to show up as an A. I mean, I was 16 and 17 taking these classes so I didn't delve into it as much as I should have ) I hope that schools can look past that, but I doubt it.... ughhh. But they could figure it because after first semester of freshman year I had 41 credits. At least they can see it was my "freshman" year of college, right?! -

Did you take college credits in high school? That impacted mine, which is annoying but it did. -
color coded deadlines
koalalover1 replied to OverCaffeinated's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Okay perfect! Yeah I know I will be fine, I just do not like the idea of being right on time. It could have been solved a lot quicker, but it's what's meant to be I guess! I also looked wrong, all of my schools are orange, so even better! No greens! -
color coded deadlines
koalalover1 replied to OverCaffeinated's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I believe you are correct! I am kind of in the same boat as you, because one of my schools I got high school college credit through took FOREVERRR to send my transcript, even though I did rush order before the New Year. CSDCAS has still not received it (which sucks because it's for my chem/physic prereq... waiting on one class to show up...) but I sent it in just about 10 days ago (CSDCAS told me it could take up to 10 days). The rest of my college transcripts have been in for a while now. I submitted my application in December, and I was not told until the end of December my application could not be verified (major freak out!) It should be receiving it within the next day or two, though! I have constantly been on the phone with CSDCAS checking, because one of my schools was such an unnecessary hassle....I did a rush order and it took a week to even say I got it sent out, when it said it would take one business day! I am usually not a last minute person, so it is hard for me to handle this! I just am worried I will not be verified, but my only green deadline is in February (the rest are orange). If it helps, get in touch with CSDCAS. When I called, they put a special note on my application to verify it as soon as everything is in, because I submitted a month ago. So if my deadlines are orange on January 15th, and I have all my stuff sent in, but not a verified application, I should be okay?? It may also help to email the schools, but as long as you submit your application, the schools should be able to see what has all been submitted so far. One of the schools got in contact with me and said they could see my submitted application and what I had so far, even though I am still missing one transcript for (literally) one class. Just is annoying because I took college credit through two colleges in high school, and one college shows up without even requesting from that school (I still did, though, just in case), but the other one did not. SO confusing yet my dumb mistake. I am planning on emailing my universities and hoping for the best, but I believe I will be okay, and so will you! -
Invitations to Apply..University of Maine
koalalover1 replied to nicolemarriee's topic in Applications
I got this too! But they used the wrong name at the end, so I felt like this is kind of a way to get me to pay the application fee. I wonder how they got our information? -
GRE code for Grand Valley State
koalalover1 replied to koalalover1's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Yeah that is what I ran into when I did that on ETS... I wasn't sure if that was right because it said PTCAS program code. Now that I'm looking at it, it seems as though 1258 is right! I'm not sure any other way to figure it out, so I will have to go with it or call Grand Valley tomorrow! Thanks for the help!
