  1. So I've accepted an offer from IUB, going to be entering the ed psych phd program. I wanted to defer for a year, but they offered me a fellowship that I couldnt turn down, so I slimed my time off to a semester. This means I'll be moving to Bloomington in early January, most likely (when to classes start, btw?). Does anyone know if it's easy to find quality housing at this point in the year?
  2. Educational psych PhD program at Indiana University (Bloomington)!
  3. Hey everyone! I've just been accepted to a PhD program in educational psychology. I'm 99% sure I'll be heading to IUB. I know the school has some on campus grad apartment building, is anyone considering living there? I'm hopefully going out there next week for a visit so I can decide for sure. Is there anything worth checking out in town while I'm there?
  4. I just saw that someone was admitted to the MA/CAGS school psych program at Northeastern by mail! Who was it?! I hope I get my acceptance letter today :-)
  5. If you do really want to respond (I don't think it would hurt) my advice is to thank her for getting back to you and ask her if she has anytime for you to meet with her/talk to her on the phone. This would be like an informal interview. You could say that you understand you may not make it in this year, but you've done extensive research into her work and you'd like to get an idea as to where she's headed in the future. In short, remain interested, but like you said, don't be pushy.
  6. Sure, I'll apply it to my program anyway! There were so many well-qualified people there that had interviews at Tufts and Chicago and the like. Even if I don't get in at first, I think many of their first choice students will go to other schools. Not that I'm not confident, but some of the people I met should have gone into a PhD program!
  7. I had an interview at Northeastern for their MA/CAGS program on Feb 22 that went very well. They thought they'd let us know that week about acceptances (50 people there, incoming class size of about 25) but I guess they didn't have time. I know that they're all at a conference in chicago this week so I'm hoping to find out next week. Did anyone else go to that interview day?
  8. I think it's fine as long as you don't send them multiple emails. I think it's safer to contact the secretary in that department.
  9. I think that's a different division but it's good to know that decisions are coming out.
  10. I applied to their developmental science program but haven't heard anything yet. Someone from the Div 2 program sent me a very vague answer after I asked when they'd send out interview invitations/decision letters. He said something like "it's a long process, we won't know for several weeks." Has anyone heard anything from their POI? Since the application had to be sent in so early, it's hard to imagine they need this much time!
  11. It all starts with the program you want! For me it was developmental and educational psych. I started by looking up schools in my state and then reading through all the profiles on their websites. It's also a good idea to either buy the APA's book or to to their website http://psycinfo.apa.org/gradstudy. That website was very helpful as you can get the stats of how many people apply/get in and it's helpful in finding other schools you hadn't thought of. I started to contact a few of my POIs late spring/early fall before applying. You want to be fresh in their memory if you do connect!
  12. Thanks! I need to start learning how to walk in them now though
  13. That would be interesting to see! These are the boots I bought: http://www.zappos.co...r-black-leather They're higher than I would normally wear, but they're comfortable (enough) and I feel great in them.
  14. I'm going to an interview day in Boston in about two weeks and went out and bought a whole new outfit. (I bought a business-y dress, cardigan, belt, tights, ankle boots with a heel, jewelry, the works!) Even if I do end up being a little more overdressed, to me it's better than the alternative. The only thing I'm shaky about is the boots... I'm going to keep an eye out for some appropriate flats.
  15. When did you receive the NEU interview? I got one for their school psychology MA/CAGS but I haven't heard anything from the experimental PhD program yet!
