  1. I really don't think they are finished making offers yet. There are still some to be made, no?
  2. As someone whose last name starts with a B, I officially don't believe in the alphabet theories. I'm always one of them that hasn't received anything either
  3. Yep, it was a rejection alright.
  4. Yeah. Good news is that on the results board it looks like rejections, acceptances, and waitlists have all come via postal service. So there's still hope!
  5. I thought the same thing, but there have been no acceptances posted at all. So maybe they are notifying everyone at the same time?
  6. Yeah, it's making me crazy. There was a solid, delusional 20 minutes yesterday when i saw that status change that I had rationalized it meant I had been accepeted. The fact that it seems like Minnesota has only made their fellowship offers so far has influenced that hope. But I calmed down and got reasonable about it. I need to just stop thinking about it- I'll find out sooner or later.
  7. Yeah, I think that it just means that someone in Minnesota is doing some data entry. From working in admissions and registrar's offices for the past tne years, I know that there are a lot of pointless steps to these things.
  8. Ugh, I looked at last year's Minnesota thread and they had the same discussion- and graduate School Review turned into a rejection letter for at least one poster. So it could still go either way, I think.
  9. Do other people's statuses say that, on the Apply Yourself page?
  10. Mine says that too. I have a feeling it's ominous though...
  11. Looks like they've started contacting waitlisted applicants. Anyone know how Rutgers does it, whether the list will be short/long, etc?
  12. Anyone know how many MAs Syracuse accepts? I'm assuming the MAs and PhD applicant pools are seperate, right?
  13. Ugh, I'm very close to giving up hope. I wonder, do you admits have MAs or no?
  14. I also thought Rutgers was my best fit out of the 16 schools I applied to. I think that it's just that, they get so many apps, they probably had 50 or so applicants that were perfect fits. But they have to make cuts somewhere and I think it's mostly random/subjective. The waitlisted haven't been notified yet, so there's always hope for that. I'd be thrilled to be waitlisted, even if I don't get in, just so my existence is validated
  15. I thought one of them was a phone call...
  16. I had the same reaction. Sitting next to my phone, trying to will it to ring.
  17. I WANT TO KNOW NOW
  18. Guys- I'm 28 and I'm probably going to do an MA program and THEN a phd program. So I will be well into my thirties before getting my phd. If it's what you want to do, it doesn't matter how old you are. Just make sure you enjoy it and live your life the way you want to.
  19. I'm at the point where I am JEALOUS of people who have gotten rejection letters while I haven't heard anything. I've always thought Minnesota was a stretch for me; I'd like to at least know for sure!
  20. I recieved an email from Wanda McCracken regarding the recruitment weekend, asking me to RSVP
  21. I don't know at all. I'm taking it as a rejection merely to emotionally prepare myself for the inevitable. It's possible that they have another round, but it looks like a lot of acceptances posted at once, and they've shrunk their cohort again this year. So for emotional stability, I'm taking it as a rejection.
  22. This song will make you feel better: Sing it when you're feeling bad about your app.
  23. This is a good point, and with absolutely no evidence, I will say that Delaware seems like they are like this in regard to the PhD program. I can't cite anything, but I do remember going on to the PhD as being more of an option there, as opposed to a place like UVA that discourages their own.
  24. This is good advice in general, about everything in life. I'm going to start chanting to myself FOCUS ON YOUR LOCUS!
  25. I really did want to live in Wisconsin. As someone who grew up in Indiana and now lives in Ohio, I'm impressed with how Wisconsin actually gets upset when their governor does shitty things to them. Wisconsin seems like a cool place to me and really wanted to live in Madison! Oh well.
