  1. I grew up in Connecticut so the area is nothing new to me I'll be commuting from Connecticut.
  2. Just got my invitation for the recruitment weekend at UNL for the center for biological chemistry graduate program and molecular mechanisms of disease program which is this Thursday and Friday. I actually applied to the chemical and biomolecular engineering program, and the professor I've been speaking with for a few months forwarded my application on to a few other departments that he is also a part of (MMoD and complex biosystems).
  3. Type your school into the list and see when people got results last year http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?t=n
  4. They told me 2 days ago that they are still reviewing some and everyone will heard back at the latest mid-February.
  5. They told me 2 days ago that they are still reviewing some applications and the last round of invitations and/or rejections will go out at the latest mid-February
  6. MIT doesn't send rejections until the first week of February generally
  7. Just as they said. They aren't finished reviewing yet.
  8. Just as they said. They aren't finished reviewing yet.
  9. I see that there's someone other than me that interviewed with KUMC for the IGPBS program this week on the "Results Search." Just wanted to say HI and ask how yours went
  10. Yale doesn't send stuff out for another month or so typically
  11. I am wondering this as well. I have a Skype interview for a program on Thursday and they told me today which two professors will be doing my interview. Neither of them are even from the DEPARTMENTS I am interested in. It's an interdisciplinary program. My interests on application are biochemistry/molecular biology, cancer biology, personalized medicine, and stem cell biology. The professors are from Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Therapeutics (ok I can see how that is minimally relevant but his research is not), and then Anatomy and Cell Biology. So kind of have no clue what to expect.
  12. I go back and forth. I am very confident in my current research and research goals as well as my LOR and SOP. However, my old grades from years ago from a different major from before I was diagnosed with and medicated for ADHD are absolutely horrendous. Unfortunately those grades never go away and because of that my cumulative GPA is pretty poor. But with that said, I have had an interview with a potential PI at an ivy, interview at two other schools (that I am completely confident I will get into) and waiting to hear back from one more, 3 rejections.
  13. Me too. I had a really great Skype interview with a POI at UNL yesterday though so I'm hopeful.
  14. Ah that makes sense. If people reject the invitation then they have the choice to invite off of a "wait list" of sorts then if they want to. I did not get an invite either but I was not expecting one my GPA is fairly horrendous. (Because of old classes I took in a different major long ago. Sigh.)
  15. Judging by the database, no, they go out the first week of January. Rejections first week of February, not sure why they wait so long.
  16. I had one today for a POI in chemical and biomolecular engineering department at UNL and it was way more relaxed than I expected. I told him what my research interests are, and then he went into detail about each of his projects, and then about the department/program in general. Asked if I had questions before going on to each section, etc.
  17. Rejected from Stowers yesterday. Had a Skype interview with a POI at UNL today that ended up being 90 minutes long and went really well. Invited me to come tour the lab/department.
  18. I have an informal interview with a POI at UNL tomorrow and Brown next week. I'm also excited/terrified lol
  19. I only got the confirmation email generated automatically when I submitted my application. There doesn't seem to be a "checklist" that shows the date materials were received either.
  20. Yeah I know KU bioengineering has already sent out acceptances, Stowers seems to have sent out some interview requests possibly just to the international students (hopefully since I haven't heard back yet), but the other due dates haven't even passed yet besides MIT which usually send out invites first week of January or so.
  21. My husband is in the Army and we own a house in Kansas City area and we also have a 4 year old son. The only realistic areas I can apply to are within a short radius of either Kansas City, or from Connecticut where our family lives. There's no way we could afford to move to somewhere where we don't A. already have a house or B. have family to stay with. I have a few schools I am still looking at to decide if I want to apply as well. Yes my old grades are not great, I switched majors when I was younger and I was also not yet diagnosed with ADHD so I would stop taking online classes in the middle of the semester. FML. My last 60 credits are great! Haha. This is the only thing I'm worried about, hopefully they see that the reason for the low GPA is due to unrelated courses years ago. Hopefully my research will outshine that. I met personally with the PI at Yale I hope to join and toured the lab and he said he will personally look at my application so hopefully that gives me a better chance. I know a large portion of the faculty at KUMC, I'm fairly confident I will at LEAST get into that school. MIT I don't really have any hope lol. We shall see!
  22. Intended specializations: Tissue engineering, biological imaging, drug delivery, biomaterials, cancer biology, nanoscale engineering
